View Full Version : Registry Change Allowed

Hi,
I can not clear a persistent "Registry Change Allowed" message on boot up.
This message is "Resident allowed change of SpySweeper (category System Startup global entry) based on your white list". I have removed the entry from RegKeyWhite.sbe in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Excludes
Then, the next time I boot I have to allow and remember the change so the entry is recreated. I have done this with teatimer turned off but that doesn't help. I think teatimer gets turned back on - on boot. Spysweeper has a resident component that is always running. I have tried to follow the instructions in this post http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=11399&highlight=Teatimer
and this one http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?p=59882&highlight=%22Remembered

Thanks

The cause of the problem may be because TeaTimer's snapshot files are out of sync with the registry. TeaTimer takes snapshots of Registry entries and compares these with the Registry at startup. Until these snapshots are updated you are likely to get pop-ups (at startup) of changes you made in the past. In other words, TeaTimer attempts to return the Registry to the state it was in when the snapshots were taken.

The solution to the problem is to refresh TeaTimer's snapshot files as follows: Exit TeaTimer: Right click Spybot's TeaTimer (Spybot-SD Resident) System Tray Icon.
Select Exit Spybot-S&D Resident.
TeaTimer closes.
TeaTimer's snapshot files are refreshed at this time.

Restart TeaTimer:
Using Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy.
Double click TeaTimer.exe to start it.

Thanks MD SB Fan,
I did exactly as you prescribed. Unfortunately, the problem persists.

Frank C:

I sorry that refreshing TeaTimer's snapshot files didn't help. Normally refreshing TeaTimer's snapshot files cures "System Startup" registry change messages when starting the system. For example:
spybot resident popup on every start up
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=11787
Since I don't run SpySweeper, I don't know what could be causing the problem.

Maybe someone else has an idea about what could be happening.

Incidentally, the problem with the TeaTimer's snapshot files not being refreshed properly at system shutdown/restart has been addressed in the most recent TeaTimer 1.5 beta versions.
