Really slow web page downloads

You guys have patched me up before.

Here's the new deal. My modem died the other day. I bought a new 2wire 2701 and it set up fine. At first browsing was a little slow, then it picked up, now it is as slow as molasses (oddly, the other computer that's running off the wireless router is browsing just fine - mine here is the direct ethernet connection). I know I have seen some "bugs" come across the Macafee scan lately but I just can't figure why it's taking up to 1 min. to load a web page.

I ran the newest spybot and no bugs were found. Attached is my HiJack This (v1.99) log:

I guess I should add that everytime I turn on the computer I get this error dialogue box:

The header reads:

SmartBridge Alerts: Motive SB.exe - Entry point Not Found

The body reads:

The procedure entry point GetProcessImageFileNameW could not be located in the dynamic link library PSAPI.DLL


This message started coming up only after my system automatically downloaded whatever new software that sbc/at&t runs for the new modem.

Perhaps this is part of the problem?

To PS Kelley (or whomever helps on this):

Regarding the dialogue box error I described above: I spoke with at&t/sbc support today for about two hours working on this. The problem has something to do with the PSAPI.DLL file. The tech tried to correct it by having me uninstall the AT&T support program (which was recently installed with my new modem) and then reinstall it to fix that problem - which it didn't.

He had me go into MSCONFIG and delete the line from the processes so now when I start up, I don't get the error message. The problem is that I cannot reinstall the software now because it thinks the software is already loaded because the file still exists in my registry. He is not authorized to go into or recommend changes to the registry so I am hoping you guys can help me with that since you guys are always deleting from the registry.

It seems pretty obvious to me that all that needs to occur is to delete from the registry the SBC self help line, but I thought I better let you decide it that is the case.

Supposedly after that is done, I should be able to reinstall it.

I'm now wondering if the slow browsing speed issue is related to all the anti-spayware that is constantly running on this machine?

After 4 calls to sbc/att techsupport, 1 call to level II tech support that lasted 2 hours and a call to Dell (in India- for 2 hrs) I think I am squared away for the time being.

What a mess all these different softwares trying to communicate with each other create! IE 7.0 - in case you hadn't noticed - isn't necessarily compatible with other software. I would stick with 6.0 until they work out the bugs.

I wouldn't mind however if you guys could give my hijack log above the "once over".

Finally, with all the anti-spy that I am running along with all the new software downloads, it is taxing my virtual memory pretty bad.

Which of the following anti-spy do you think I can get rid of to help my system move quicker? I have alot running and some may be duplicative:

McAfee (paid subscription)
Spy Sweeper (paid subscription)
Spy Subtract (free- but always auto loads updates and wants to change registry on me)
Spybot S&D (but of course!)

does that mcafee include a antimalware app or is it just antivirus? really one or two antimalware apps is plenty.

see alot of icons down by the clock? launch the app and look for options/preferences not to start with windows.
look in add/remove programs panel and uninstall anything you dont use/need
commercial computers come with more and more crap preinstalled on them.
you use realplayer or musicmatch.

Did you take a look at my log? You didn't mention it so I was curious if you saw anything suspicious in there?

Interestingly my McAfee just uploaded the latest software, renewed my suscription automatically, charged me more money, AND added the malware search in addition to anti-virus, so yes, now I seem to have a plethora of these programs running. Spysweeper seems to take a big chunk of memory.

But overall, something is still slower, which is why I wanted you to look at the log for bugs.

i did look at the hjt log and it looks ok.
from the list you posted it does look like you have to many malware apps,
really one or two is good enough.
iam not familiar with: Spy Subtract. is that a antimalware app also?if so then i count 5.
