Will you be able not to have the tea timer enabled, and by doing so will that use up less resources.

But at the same time is it wise to have it disabled

Like any real time monitor TeaTimer does use system resources. TeaTimer is not activated by default. It is an optional process and must be activated by the user in one of two ways:
Checking the following item on the "Select Additional Tasks" screen during the installation of Spybot:
Use system settings projection (TeaTimer)
Going into Spybot > Mode > Advanced Mode > Tools > Resident and checking the following item:
Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of over-all system settings) Active.

You can stop the execution of TeaTimer at any time by:
Right clicking Spybot's TeaTimer (Spybot-SD Resident) System Tray Icon > click Exit Spybot-S&D Resident.
You can stop the execution of TeaTimer and remove the startup entry so it will not start the next time you restart your system by:
Going into Spybot > Mode > Advanced Mode > Tools > Resident and unchecking the following item:
Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of over-all system settings) Active.

Apparently you have concerns about the resources that TeaTimer is using. You have to judge if the protection it offers in your particular case is worth the resources it is using.
