View Full Version : Can't remove something off my computer!
Someone downloaded something on my computer, its actually on my desktop and I cant delete it. When i try to, it says that it is being used by another program or user. It is an application and under its description it says "zbpp27p1". Can anyone help me with this? I will also provide a hijackthis log.

you can try to delete it in safe mode.
to reach safe mode tap the f8 key during a computer restart. chose the first option from the list: safe mode
once at the safe mode desktop try to delete it. also do this:
>>you might want to copy/paste this into notepad and save it so you can find/read it while in safe mode:
start>settings>Control Panel> click the Internet options icon
Next:
Click on Delete Cookies.
Click on Delete Files, Make sure Delete all offline content is checked and then click on OK
Then click on Settings, then click on View Files if there is any thing in there, delete what you can
(edit>select all--- then file>delete)
Then at the top in the address bar, at the end where it says:
\Temporary Internet Files
change it to \Temp then hit enter and delete what you can.
Go to Start > Run and type:cleanmgr.check these 3 and press *ok* to remove:
Temporary Files
Temporary Internet Files
Recycle Bin
while in safe mode also run your updated spyware doctor.

i was able to delete it, but i needed to disconnect from my wireless router, which means that it wasnt letting me delete it while i was connected.
what does this mean?
i also was able to do a search for the description in "regedit" and also deleted it there and anywhere else i saw that it would pop up.
do u think this will solve the problem, and do u think that this could've been malware?

run spyware doctor if you havent already. could have been malware yes. hjt log looks ok.
have you noticed anything different about your computer?
how about your firewall, any new items/apps showing up that havent before wanting internet connection?

i ran spyware doctor and it showed me a trojan virus that was located in:

i cant locate it.
also my avg detected 3 trojan virues, but i wiped those out
i use the expired free trial version of sunbelt kerio firewall, how would i be able to tell if any new items/apps have shown up?
my computer isnt doing anything funny, but im just afraid that someone might have access to it and steal my personal information

is your systems restore archive. we can clean that out manually once it all looks good.
how would i be able to tell if any new items/apps have shown up?
the firewall should control all outbound traffic and should alert you of any new application that wants a internet connection, for example a trojan.
the hjt log looks good, spyware doctor is a good app. you can do some online scans or you might want a 2nd anti malware app to use on your computer. i can provide links to both if you like.

i also noticed that there are multiple svchost.exe running on my computer, seven to be exact. And my computer is also running a little sluggish since last time i turned it off. Is this normal? It was also strange to see that it was updating 3 items before i turned it off last time.

your computer creates restore points at certain intervals. anything including malware can get archived in the points. antimalware apps may not be able to remove them.

new restore points:
You must be logged in as an Administrator to do this. If you are not logged in as an Administrator, the System Restore tab will not be displayed.
Turning off System Restore will clear out all previous restore points.
To turn off Windows XP System Restore:
NOTE: These instructions assume that you are using the default Windows XP Start Menu and have not changed to the Classic Start menu. To re-enable the default menu, right-click Start, click Properties, click Start menu (not Classic) and then click OK.
1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
2. Reboot. (will delete possibly infected restore points)
3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
4. Reboot (new clean restore point)
