I'm getting the xlibgfl254.dll warning boxes every time I startup or launch an application. I've followed the "before you post" instructions to get started.

Welcome to the forum, first question is have you resolved the issues or are you receiving help from another forum? If both answers are no, then some information for you.

First, since I see no antivirus scan report I have to assume you missed this information:

Please read and follow those instructions, you can wait on the antivirus scan, I will let you know if I need it.

This item is showing more and more and I have not cleaned it yet, but I can tell you it does not show in the HJT log.

Your Java program is badly out of date and the exploit showing in the infected scan is probably the result of not keeping Java updated. You have not mentioned popups and if you had Vundo you would probably be getting popups.

If you want my help, then I would like to proceed like this.

1) This junk will attract more, please keep the computer offline as much as possible until we are done.

2) http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html <<< use the information for your Operating System and enable all files and folders.
I believe the item is going to be in the C:\Windows\system32\ folder, but do a search for xlibgfl254.dll and post the location. Don't delete it just yet, something is probably putting it back.

3) Download the newest Java version and then uninstall all old versions in Add Remove programs.

4) Clean the Java cache to get rid of that exploit

5) C:\Hijack This\HijackThis.exe <<< return here and rename HJT.exe, call it carey.exe or anything you wish, the next HJT log after a reboot will show Vundo if it is present.

6) Last I would like to look at a Blacklight log, follow these instructions:

Double-click blbeta.exe to run the program
Click : Scan
A list of all items found is created

The list is in the BlackLight folder on the Desktop, and named fsbl.xxxxxxx.log (xxxxxxx are numbers).

Please provide the log created by BlackLight in your next reply.

Complete the instructions, restart the computer and post any information I requested, the Blacklight log and a new HJT log. Please add any comments you think will help.
