Hi there

I've just had a notification from zonealarm that win32.coupons has been found on my system. I downloaded IE7 the other day and zonealarm points out that this malware could well have come with it. I quarantined it on zonealarm's recommendation.

Have I done enough, or should I be doing more?

After quarantining, I ran hijackthis and there's an entry which I think could well be relating to the malware. I've highlighted it.

Any advice is welcomed :)

Thanks :bigthumb:

hi tiger_greeneyes,

as long as its quarantined, it wont be a problem. what about your other malware apps? did they flag it? you have quite afew malware apps. two is really good enough. looks like that bho you highlighted was removed by one of your malware apps.

Hi Shelf Life

I've run all my spyware programmes and can't find this malware elsewhere :)

The only reason I've got so many is that I've added them to my arsenal whenever I've had a problem - usually Google tells me which application I need to eradicate the problem. I just don't like to throw anything away!!

Thank you for your help, it's very much appreciated :)

hi tiger_greeneyes,

he only reason I've got so many is that I've added them to my arsenal whenever I've had a problem

they all target the same thing for the most part.

can't find this malware elsewhere
a false positive on zone alarms part maybe?

Hi Shelf Life - thank you for your post :)

It could well be a false positive - I've had a couple of them lately!

I googled it though, from what I understand it comes with IE7. I think I'll stick with Firefox.

hi tiger_greeneyes,

from what I understand it comes with IE7

you mean this:
win32.coupons

i dont think ms is dispensing malware with IE

Firefox is a better choice for a browser. why? simple because its less exploited
this one is really nice to:

happy safe surfing.
