I am sure this question must have been asked before, but it didn't show up when I did a search.
I have Spybot S&D 1.3 and recently I have not been able to download the updates. It either shows a bad checksum or freezes half-way through the download.
I did have a problem for a while where it kept on telling me that my Windows Antivirus has been disabled, although I use Norton. After I asked Spybot to fix the problem, I then had to remind my Windows Security that I had Norton.
It has been since this problem that I started experiencing the problems with the update download.
Hi there.
If you have a compatible system:
Version 1.4 :Systems Supported (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/spybotsd/index.html)
Spybot-S&D 1.4 Final has been released.
Uninstalling Previous Spybot-S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/faq/27.html)
Spybot-S&D Version 1.4 Download (http://www.spybot.info/en/download/index.html)
Solution to fix the pop-ups in TeaTimer (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=122)
Also: Please take a look at your security settings of your firewall (if you are using one) and make sure that Spybot-S&D is not blocked. That should help to get into the updates. If Spybot-S&D is not blocked it is also possible that our server is temporarily not available. Please try it again a few hours later or use another mirror.
If this does not help please download the updates manually:

Hope that helps. :)

Thanks a lot, the new version seems to be working well now. both dowloading updates and detecting problems.
How necessary is it to fix the pop-ups in TeaTimer? How would I know if I need to do this?
Good to hear. :)
If unsure about the Tea Timer popups regarding registry changes best to click deny if you don't know what the changes mean.
Don't click "remember this" until you know what you are doing.
If you can, take time to google the registry changes so that you gain some understanding of what teatimer is telling you.
Sometimes you may immediately know what the popup means.
For instance, say you just updated a program; teatimer may warn you there was a change and you may choose to allow that as you recognise the program.
Other times you may see something that sounds nasty, like an attempt to change your browser homepage to girlsrus and you know you had not made such a change so you would not want to accept that.:D
This is a nice article by md usa spybot fan.
