First of all, I would like to thank all of you volunteers for helping out the incompetant computer people (like me :)).

I have been reading a lot on this forum and have already fixed a few of the problems by reading other topics and seeing what I can do myself. But I know I have plenty of stuff to get rid of.
I know for a fact I have Smitfraud-C. Toolbar888, Troj.PrintSpool, VirtuMonde, and probably Vundo. They keep re-appearing when I scan, and are slowing my computer down. I hope this is all I have, but im afraid that I might have something more serious.

Here is my HJT Log:

Yuck, I don't know much about reading this stuff, but this looks messy.
By the way, I already have SP2, so what should I do?

Again, thank you for all of the help.:)

Hello Bean_ and welcome to the Forums :)

You're infected.

Please download VundoFix.exe (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4) to your desktop.
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

Okay, I did as you suggested.

There's just one problem. As you can see, there's 5 files detected, but only 4 deleted. It did not run on reboot.

As it was deleting, I got this message (which is probably why only 4 were deleted) "Error: 75.Path/File access error" Should I run it again?

Hi, we'll continue :)

The khffffe.dll seems to be removed too...

One or more of the identified infections steal information. If this system is used for online banking or has credit card information on it, all passwords should be changed immediately by using a different computer (not the infected one!) to make the changes. Banking and credit card institutions, if any, should be notified of the possible security breech. I suggest that you read this (http://www.dslreports.com/faq/10451) article too.

Download SDFix (http://downloads.andymanchesta.com/RemovalTools/SDFix.zip) and save it to your desktop.

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
Choose your usual account.

In Safe Mode, right click the SDFix.zip folder and choose Extract All,
Open the extracted folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
Type Y to begin the script.
It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool will be running and removing files.
When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and display Finished, then press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
Finally open the SDFix folder on your desktop and copy and paste the contents of the results file Report.txt back onto the forum with a new HijackThis log

I just have one concern: the AVG Anti-Spyware scan picked up 2 backdoors. Do you think it deleted them?

Anyways, here's the AVG Anti-Spyware Log...

Hello :)

Looking much better.

1. Download this file - combofix.exe (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe)
2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

**If the tool fails to launch from the Desktop, please move SmitfraudFix.exe directly to the root of the system drive (usually C:), and launch from there.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

NOTE: Do not run any other options from SmitfraudFix until I tell you to do so!

Hi. We (everybody in my house) have decided that the computer, though it is not completely clean, is good enough for us to do what we need it to do. It is running much much better than before you started helping. We just think that backing up the registry and doing all that isn't what we need, and is a little too risky.

If I can run SmitFraudFix without having to back up the registry, then I will. :) I will wait for a response on that.

Though we are basically finished (I assume) with cleaning my computer, there are a few things you can clear up with me, and maybe a small problem you can help me fix (I'll tell you about them once we're done with SmitFraudFix, if I can run it).

Again, thank you for the help, and for sticking with me. :bigthumb:

Hello :)

You should be pretty safe if you just follow my instrcutions carefully. I just want to remind that if we don't get you completetly clean there is a possibility that the remaining infections download more junk....

You can run SmitfraudFix without backing up the registry...

Hello :)

Did you ran the OTMoveIt?

You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a NotePad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
Choose your usual account.
Once in Safe Mode, double-click on SmitfraudFix.exe
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows.
A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log
The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #3 - Delete Trusted zone by typing 3 and press Enter.
Answer Yes to the question "Restore Trusted Zone ?" by typing Y and hit Enter.

Note, if you use SpywareBlaster and/or IE-SPYAD, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and re-protect all items. For IE-SPYAD, run the batch file and reinstall the protection.

Warning : running option #2 on a non infected computer will remove your Desktop background.

Yes it does look better.

You should run OtMoveIt. After that, we'll run a one more scanner.

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner (http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner)

Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT

Now click on Scan Settings
In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
Extended (if available otherwise Standard)

Scan Options:
Scan Archives
Scan Mail Bases

Click OK
Now under select a target to scan:Select My Computer

This will program will start and scan your system.
The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
Now click on the Save as Text button:
Save the file to your desktop.
Copy and paste that information in your next post.

Sorry for the delay...

I ran OTMoveIt, but im having a problem with the Kaspersky Online Scanner.
I click Kaspersky Online Scanner, and it goes to the Accept agreement page, so I accept. Then, it takes me to a page that is searching for updadted definitions (I guess this is the scanner page). So then I get a little blip that says it's trying to install ActiveX components, so I click to install them, but then it loads me back to the page with the Accept Agreement. The only difference is, there are no accept/decline choices. This is probably simple to fix, but I don't know what to do.

Hi :)

Ok that is propably some problem with security settings...

We may use another scanner.

You should print these instructions or save these to a text file. Follow these instructions carefully.

Download Dr.Web CureIt to the desktop -> ftp://ftp.drweb.com/pub/drweb/cureit/drweb-cureit.exe

Restart your computer to the safe mode:
Restart your computer
Start tapping the F8 key when the computer restarts.
When the start menu opens, choose Safe mode
Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
Run a scan with Dr.Web CureIt Doubleclick the drweb-cureit.exe file and Allow to run the express scan
This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan.
Once the short scan has finished, you should now mark the drives that you want to scan.
Select all drives. A red dot shows which drives have been chosen.
Click the green arrow at the right, and the scan will start.
Click 'Yes to all' if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.

When the scan has finished, look if you can click next icon next to the files found http://users.telenet.be/bluepatchy/miekiemoes/images/check.gif
If so, click it and then click the next icon right below and select Move incurable
After the scan, in the menu, click file and choose save report list
Save the report to your desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv
Close Dr.Web Cureit.
Reboot the computer in Normal Mode,
Post the Cure-it report and a fresh HijackThis log

Sorry for the huge delay, ive been really sick all week.
Maybe some pest jumped from the computer..
I hope that you're okay now :)

Please download the following program and save it to your desktop:

http://noahdfear.geekstogo.com/FindAWF.exe

Once downloaded, double-click on the file to run it. When it is done there will be a file called awf.txt on your desktop. Please post the contents of that file as a reply to this topic.
