I am not able to open ANY site using IE 7.0. It asks to install HTML viewr
but wonn't allow me to install since a pop-up window shows up asking "Click
to install ActiveX control on this web page. When I click OK, I get -
"Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are
sorry for the inconvenience." And gives me two options: (1) Debug and (2)
Close. When I select Debug it shuts down IE.

On the same window, when I select - "For more information about this error, click here", I see the following information

AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 7.0.6000.16414 ModName: mshtml.dll
ModVer: 7.0.6000.16414 Offset: 002118c3

This is VERY annoying. Any help to resolve this problem will be appreciated.

Thank you.

Hello happy1 and welcome to the Forums :)

Let's do some research...

Please post a HijackThis log to here: Click here (http://downloads.malwareremoval.com/HijackThis.exe) to download HijackThis.exe
Save HijackThis.exe to your desktop.
Create a new folder named HijackThis to your desktop. Move Hijackthis.exe into that folder.
Run HijackThis.exe
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
