Spyware removal tried everything

Hi I have tried all the recommended means of getting rid of spyware which is re directing my browser and producing pop up adverts. I was advised to use spybot and hijack. I have used both in safe mode
Spybot identifies 3 threats 1 it removes and the other 2 it doesn't. The threats are:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Controlset002
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Controlset001
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Currentcontrolsset

It removes 002 but not the others - I get a message saying that it may be because some associated files are still in use in memory.

What was the name of the threat ? command service perhaps ?
Your running Hijackthis from a temp, it still hasnt been unzipped and its a very old version, none of which is a good idea.
Create a new folder, for instance C:\AntiSpyware
Download the exe from here to that new folder.

This is necessary to ensure you have backups should anything go wrong
Make and post a new log

Lonnie,thanks for your help. I have followed your advice and created a folder for HijackThis.

Whilst I waited for your response to the original query I read the advice to others with similar problems to me and I think I have fixed mine now. If nothing else I have learned a hell of a lot from you guys
