help needed with popups and removing c_1dfo.dll

I got infected The other day. Ran all removal programs spybot, adaware cwshredder, panda scan, norton anti virus. Cleaned up all infected. only one tthing left i cannot identify. the
Winlogon Notify: c_1dfo - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\c_1dfo.dll
nor can i remove with any tool.

Welcome to the forum, this looks like a variation of Vundo and it can be hard to remove so follow the directions carefully, and in the numbered order.

Please understand these hackers can call there junk anything they wish. Vundofix may not know the files at first, but it will learn. You want to run the fix until you see all Vundo files say: "Has been deleted"

Thanks to Atribune and any others who helped with this fix.

1) Please download VundoFix.exe (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4) to your desktop
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log in a reply to this thread.Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

If there is a file VundoFix doesn't find we need it submitted. Please submit
the files to upload malware http://www.uploadmalware.com

(Proceed when you have all files deleted, save the reports until you finish)

2) E:\virus\Hijack\HijackThis.exe <<< HJT needs to run from a drive so it can save backups for safety, move it here: C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe and do that before you proceed.

3) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

4) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

5) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

6) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\c_1dfo.dll <<< delete that file if there

7) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer and post the Vundofix report and a new HJT log. Add any comments you think will help.

I downloaded vundofix and followed your instructions. Found no files. I then sent the file to the link you provided.

One of the major pop ups is win ativirus pro 2007

Well Vince, one fairly sure sign of a Vundo infection is Winfixer popups, did you take the time to read this information?

I will say that I have seen it take six or more times before the tool recognizes a new file and a log will always be returned even if it says nothing was found. My instructions were to:

Restart the computer and post the Vundofix report and a new HJT logI would appreciate it if you would take the time to follow my instructions.

Understand you are going to have popups until you remove this junk.
Here are the Vundo files, they have to be removed, run the fix a couple of more times, you see the fix finding stuff as it goes. If it does not remove them, then try in the morning, perhaps Atribune will have added that file to the fix by then?

i ran vundofix 6 times yesturday. then 6 times again today still has not found anything. tried to delete the entries you suggested in hijackthis got an error trying to remove web 016- web p2p installer status x

* Double-click VirtumundoBeGone.exe on the Desktop
* Follow the directions as indicated

This program may generate a "BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH" which is an expected/necessary part of the process.
Do not be concerned.
Just reboot if your system "jams".

To confirm successful deletion, and determine if there are any additional problems, please post the VirtumundoBeGone log VBG.txt. It is found on the Desktop.

Try this: Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > In Browsing history click the Setting button next to the delete button.
Now click on View objects. A list of your Downloaded Program Files will open. Locate that file:

Hi Vince, thanks for returning the information and your feedback. Your HJT logs looks clean of malware this morning, if all is back to normal I would say you are good to go. You can delete all of the tools we used, with the exception of ATF-Cleaner. You may keep that nice little tool if you want. Let's finish up like this:
System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:

Removed the utilities. Then ran atf cleaner. Updated java and all is fine..
