View Full Version : Win32.Agent.dzk can not remove!

Elitenewb
2007-04-06, 08:50
I have tried everything.

Here is my problem:

I select the theme I want to use such as Windows Classic View. I save and reboot. After a while it stays windows classic, but then right out of the blue it changes my theme to Windows XP Silver Theme with a weird background that is out of focus and has a big yellow flower that says "Spring" at the top left.

I have done everything in the "Before you post" thread, and none of it can seem to remove Win32.Agent.dzk.

Thank you.

Here is my HijackThis log:

Welcome to the forum, if you still need help, I will see what I can do. I can find nothing about this item:
Win32.Agent.dzk <<< here is the google: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Win32.Agent.dzk&btnG=Search
What program is reporting it and where is it saying it is located.

Next, if you read the "Before you post" you would see your are supposed to post an online scan result. If you have scan results left, let me know and I will tell you what I want to see.

Since the Desktop is involved this is often a hidden Smitfraud infection, so we will look for that, and you have AVG Anti-Spyware onboard so I would like to see a scan result. The one other question is do you know what this is:
O23 - Service: COM+ Messages - CMD Technology, Inc. - (no file)
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=CMD+Technology%2C+Inc.&btnG=Search
Proceed like this please:

http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php <<< download Smitfraudfix from here and follow ONLY these directions:

Search:
Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 1 and hit Enter to create a report of the infected files. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Note: process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool". It is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/processutil/processutil.htm

Follow the directions in this link to update and run AVG Anti-Spyware, delete or at least quarantine anything it locates and save that scan report to post.
http://forums.security-central.us/showthread.php?t=3165

Restart the computer and post the C:\rapport.txt from Smitfraudfix, the scan results from AVG Anti-Spyware, a new HJT log, any information I requested and any comments you think will help.

Thanks

Thank you for taking my case.

I made a spelling error the correct thing is: Win32.Agent.azk

The program that shows this thing as non-removable is Spybot Search & Destroy.

Here is the beginning of the log for Spybot:

It takes like 2 hours for AVG anti-spyware to run, so when it is done I will post a log of that and post new logs of everything else. Just doing this to see if you can see anything.

Also, last night when I was waiting for a reply. All of a sudden it made a search in firefox and started typing in the search box something like "%system root%/-v something it was pretty crazy.

Again, thank you for your time.

It is very important that you follow the directions I posted, I have only so much time that I can take to do this:

You said this:
I have done everything in the "Before you post" thread, and none of it can
Here are those instructions in part:
"BEFORE you POST" Mandatory Steps Before Requesting Assistance
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288

All logs should be copy/pasted into topic and not attached unless requested by helper in that format.

Please take the time to reread the instructions.

This is what I requested:

Restart the computer and post the C:\rapport.txt from Smitfraudfix, the scan results from AVG Anti-Spyware, a new HJT log, any information I requested and any comments you think will help. Please post only what I request.

Thanks

Also, as I did the smithfraudfix.exe it changed my whole theme black and I couldn't see any of the buttons like close start and what have you. Then it cam back to the silver xp theme. Sorry I wasted your time. :( Thank you for being patient with a newb. :)

Thanks, but it's your time to. I still don't see your response to my question here, unless I missed something?

The one other question is do you know what this is:
O23 - Service: COM+ Messages - CMD Technology, Inc. - (no file)
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=CMD+Technology%2C+Inc.&btnG=Search
Smitfraudfix found no infection. AVG Anti-Spyware found a few cookies and some trojans in System Restore, let's do some cleaning and see what happens.

Follow the instructions in this link to make sure Spybot is totally up to date and completely immunized. You databases should be through 4/4/2007 and immunization should be blocking 17404 bad products.

I do not know anything about this: O23 - Service: COM+ Messages - CMD Technology, Inc. - (no file)

Here are the only things left on my computer that spybot can not fix:

Win32.Agent.azk: Settings (Registry key, fixing failed)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\COM+ Messages

Win32.Agent.azk: Settings (Registry key, fixing failed)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\COM+ Messages

Every other thing that was on my computer is cleaned EXCEPT those two entries. I have no clue how to fix them. I even rebooted into Safemode and it still says it can not clean then. I even had it run on a reboot and it still does not clean them.

Thank you for your help.

Thank's for the information, use this information to enable all files and folders for your operating system:
http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html
Search for both COM+ Messages and CMD Technology Allow time for search to complete, it can take a while. Post any information you get.

Disable the Service
Click Start > Run and type services.msc
Scroll down to COM+ Messages and right click on it.
Click Properties and under Service Status click Stop, then under Startup Type change it to Disabled.

Delete the Service
Open HijackThis and click Config -> Misc Tools -> Delete an NT service.
In the Delete window, type (COM+ Messages) and press OK.
OK any prompts, close HijackThis, and restart your computer.

Restart the computer and run Spybot again. Let me know the results.

Thanks

Thank you very much. That seems to have gotten rid of it. I really appreciate your help.

Nothing shows up on Spybot or AVG, so I think we got it.

Also, the search results returned nothing.

Is there anything else I should do?

Damn! Every scanner out there says there is no problems, yet it still changes my desktop to Silver XP Theme and a weird background. Would you like me to take a screenshot of the background so you can see what I mean?

It is really annoying and I have never had this problem with any other computers.

I change the theme to Windows Classic, and no matter what, after 30 minutes to 1 hour it changes it back to the Silver XP Theme and a background with a flower.

Is there anything you can do about this or should I just reformat?

No need to send a screenshot, I know little about the issue you are reporting, but here are some links where you might spot something:

Is there anything you can do about this or should I just reformat?I would guess reinstalling the Operating System would do it without resorting to a reformat. If these ideas don't resolve the issue, try registering free and posting here:

Folks there will know much about the Operating System.

I suggest you do this to complete the cleanup:
System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
