Pop Ups and strange DLL, need support

[aeffemax]

hello there,

I'd like to excuse myself in advance for my english, I am writing from Italy.
I am experiencing some problems with pop ups (i.e.:winsoftware pop up, etc)and I did also found two strange dlls in my Window/System 32 folder.

I have been using AD aware and Spyboot already twice and it looks better now, but I'd like to make sure.

One of the dll it's been deleted by spyboot the other still stays in System 32: khfdded.dll, what is this?

This looks like it could be a vundo file... khfdded.dll

Vundo can hide from hijackthis unless you rename the hijackthis.exe file first ... so find F:\PC Utilities\hijackthis_199\HijackThis.exe & rename it to aeffemax.exe then run it again & post the new log...

Her you go, new log is following...also, I was thinking to do this tentative, based on a previous problem I had:

open Hijackthis.exe (or aeffemax.exe is better now?)
choose the tab misc tools
choose delete a file on restart
in the field copy and paste:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\khfdded.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmnlm.dll (WHAT IS THIS NOW?)
click open
delete and restart
after reboot check and fix next entry in Hijackthis(or aeffemax.exe?)
for missed (two files as above in winlogon notify)
clean cache and cookies in IE
clean temporary files (cleanmgr) and recycle bin
Should this be working?

Please help, I am getting continuos pop up and installation .cab coming out in webbrowser, thanx again.

Her you go, new log is following...also, I was thinking to do this tentative, based on a previous problem I had:

open Hijackthis.exe (or aeffemax.exe is better now?)
choose the tab misc tools
choose delete a file on restart
in the field copy and paste:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\khfdded.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmnlm.dll (WHAT IS THIS NOW?)
click open
delete and restart
after reboot check and fix next entry in Hijackthis(or aeffemax.exe?)
for missed (two files as above in winlogon notify)
clean cache and cookies in IE
clean temporary files (cleanmgr) and recycle bin
Should this be working?

What you suggest will only remove part of the infection & the files will probably regenerate with new names... please do this :-

Please download VundoFix.exe (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4) to your desktop.
1. Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
2. When VundoFix re-opens, click the Scan for Vundo button.
3. Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
4. You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click "YES".
5. Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
6. When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click "OK".

7. Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

If vundofix cannot delete a file, it will try to delete it during a reboot, after the reboot vundofix will open again, you must run vundofix again, from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" ... and you must keep running vundofix until it does delete the file... I've known a stubborn vundo file take 5 or 6 reboots before it is deleted...

I did execute your suggestions and checked/fixed the 5 items you've point to fix, all done.

The strange thing is that I have been not able to locate the folder "dllcache" in system32 to delete file CTFMON.EXE, even if I instruct to show hidden folders on my system.
Do you have a suggestion in how to find it?

I am attaching the new HijackThis log file after checking/deleting the 5 items tou have been mentioning.
Also i have been doing the panda scan on line but it was freezing at the second run... during the first it was finding some hacker tools which I believe are on one of my partition and are belonging to a "Keylogger prog" i have been downloading and using for a while.
I will repeat the test tomorrow and I will post the Panda log.. now it's very late here in italy, almost 2:30 in the morning, I need some rest.

Please let me know if my system looks like running safely or if anything still need to be fixed.

check the box "Delete on Reboot"

copy and paste the following bold line into the "Full Path of File to Delete" box in Killbox..

C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache\ctfmon.exe

click the red button with the white X on it.

Say yes to "delete on reboot" - then say "yes" to reboot now...

Let it reboot - If you get a PendingOperations message (reboot manually) ...

Download Superantispyware.

Once downloaded and installed update the defintions
and then run a full system scan quarantine what it finds!

* Double-click SUPERAntiSypware.exe and use the default settings for installation.
* An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program.
* If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates". (If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download and unzip them from here.)

* Under "Configuration and Preferences", click the Preferences button.
* Click the Scanning Control tab.
* Under Scanner Options make sure the following are checked (leave all others unchecked):
o Close browsers before scanning.
o Scan for tracking cookies.
o Terminate memory threats before quarantining.
* Click the "Close" button to leave the control center screen.
* Back on the main screen, under "Scan for Harmful Software" click Scan your computer.
* On the left, make sure you check C:\Fixed Drive.
* On the right, under "Complete Scan", choose Perform Complete Scan.
* Click "Next" to start the scan. Please be patient while it scans your computer.
* After the scan is complete, a Scan Summary box will appear with potentially harmful items that were detected. Click "OK".
* Make sure everything has a checkmark next to it and click "Next".
* A notification will appear that "Quarantine and Removal is Complete". Click "OK" and then click the "Finish" button to return to the main menu.
* If asked if you want to reboot, click "Yes".
* To retrieve the removal information after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again.
o Click Preferences, then click the Statistics/Logs tab.
o Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.
o If there are several logs, click the current dated log and press View log. A text file will open in your default text editor.
o Please copy and paste the Scan Log results in your next reply.
* Click Close to exit the program.
