A couple of months ago I was infected with some malware and one of the advisors recommended, among other things, downloading drweb-cureit.exe and running it. I did so and, along with the other fixes, I ridded myself of the infection. My regular virus protection software (Freedom by Knowledge Works, provided by my ISP Adelphia, soon to be Comcast) noted a virus today. I scanned via Freedom virus detection software and think it is gone. To make sure, I tried to scan via drweb-curit.exe. The software was in need of updating, so I downloaded it again. When I try to install, I get the error "the archive is either in unknown format or damaged". I have downloaded several times and tried to install--obtain same error message. Does anyone know the problem with drweb.cureit.exe and is it still recommended as virus detection?

Thanks.

hi billr,

Does anyone know the problem with drweb.cureit.exe and is it still recommended as virus detection?

first question, dont know
second question, yes.

there are plenty of other online scanners you can use to get a second opinion about a virus on your computer:
