View Full Version : Am I doing something wrong?

I open Spybot Search and Destroy and download all the latest updates.
I then proceed to click in Immunize. Click ok in the box that pops up telling me about how many threats are blocked, I then click scan again (just to be sure... you can never scan too many times I say), and then click immunize.
Then I click on Search and Destroy, and check for problems.
After the scan is done I make sure everything is checked (usually is) and click Fix Problems.
Sometimes I get a message asking me if I want to run a scan at start up. I click yes. If this doesn't show up I go into settings and set it to run on next start up.
Restart
when the scan is done I notice the exact same problem have shown up.
I click on Fix Problems
Computer continues to start
I then RE-open Spybot and run yet another scan
The exact same problems appear as before.
I click on Fix Problems and it asks me again if I want to run a scan at start-up.

And the cycle would repeat for as long as I have the patience to repeat it.

Is there something I'm doing wrong, or is Spybot broke? It has done this for as long as I've been using Spybot (many versions now). The only time Spybot DOESN'T exhibit this behavior is if I do a scan the day (or day after) I re-install after a format.

It would probably be best if you showed what Spybot is detecting so that someone here can have a look at it,so could you please do this:
Open SpyBot.
Check for problems.
When finished, right click and choose copy results (not the full report) to clipboard and post it here.

I'm also getting an issue where the pop-ups that alert to denied registry changes says that a browser search change has been denied because of my blacklist, and the message just keeps popping up over and over and over again. How do I address this?

I dont know whether I cn help but are the the scans coming up as red because Ive had a similar problem but it was soon solved the ones spybot was picking up on my machine at that time was just normal windows activity
also you might want to find out are there any programs like toolbars etc that automatically get cookies when you start your machine
what are your scans coming up as?

Not to interrupt, but when they say Tracking Cookie beside them in the Results, they should all come up red,so I'll post this :) :
Have a look here for how to remove and block Firefox tracking cookies:
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?p=64081#post64081

And if you would like to remove something from your black list so you are asked to Allow or Deny it once again, here is how:

The problem is the problem never seems to get fixed as it should when you click "Fix Problems" no matter how many times I scan and scan at system start up the same problems keep showing up.

I wouldn't mind if the problems came back after a few days of internet browsing (or even a few hours considering the state of the internet right now), but they show up in a scan again IMMEDIATELY after I've just finished supposedly fixing them.

This article shows how to block third-party cookies in both your browsers:
http://www.spybot.info/en/faq/37.html
If you do that,it should cut down on tracking cookies found. If the firefox cookies still return after that, please have a look here:
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?p=64081#post64081

When you do a scan with Spybot, you probably get some results that are green?Since your list is smaller this time,do you usually get a larger number of green entries found after you do a scan with Spybot?
Could you open Spybot, click mode, then Advanced Mode, say yes to the warning window that pops up,then over to the left, click Settings, then File Sets.Over in the main window, scroll down to the Usage Tracking section. What all is checkmarked in that section?
