Computer is sending massive amounts of spam e-mail.

I work as a technician in a Wilmington, NC computer repair shop. I have a machine in shop that was sent in for virus removal, which was done the standard way -- running a multitude of virus scans, checking the startup, registry, A/R Programs, Program folders, hidden folders, HJT logs, running SmitfraudFix and a few others, etc., etc.

After everything was found to be "clean" and running alright, it was connected to the internet to download a few driver updates as an afterthought. Norton immediately popped up with about 30 notification boxes that my "1 out of 1 message" had been sent. I unplugged the ethernet cable and got a message stating that three of the messages had now failed to send -- they all had those random Spam e-mail titles that you typically see nowadays that aren't much more than gibberish.

There are no pop-ups, no slow-down issues, nothing out of the ordinary EXCEPT for two things: 1) Norton still advises me whenever it's connected to the internet that the computer is sending out large quantities of e-mail. 2) When connected to the internet, certain popular websites simply cannot be accessed. google.com, yahoo.com, ask.com, and a few others just won't come up. However, lesser known sites have no issues whatsoever.

I just don't see anything that could be causing this in the HJT log. I can't make promises, but if you have not resolved this issue yet and will follow the directions I posted above, including posting a HJT log with the correct version, I will be glad to take a look.
