Unable to view deskstop items/Malware

Hi please help. I am assisting a friend whos's pc is well infected with everything. I can't see the deskstop items. I ran spybot sd and zone alarm including lavasoft. A lot of things have been removed but they keep coming back especially smitfraud. I can see the deskstop items by going to start/explore, otherwise I am unable to see any desktop items. My HJT.exe log is below. I ran vundo fix and removed the only vundo found. Please help.

Please read and follow all instructions and post all required logs or reports, anything less will slow your process.
Use "Post Reply" to post the information in the instructions and stay in the same topic.

This is a very infected computer and it is a waste of your time and mine to clean a computer with no service pack and no critical updates, it is just going to re-infect right away.

Update Your Windows XP.
You are currently using an unpatched version of Windows XP.
Before attempting to remove malware, it is CRITICAL that you update to Service Pack 1a.
Get SP1a here : http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/sp1/default.mspx
You should also get SP2, but NOT NOW, rather only after your machine is clean.
After updating your Windows to SP1a, post a new HijackThis log please, using the Post Reply button.

Since you ran Vundofix already, I would like you to delete the tool if you still have it and download it fresh from the link I provide. The creator is great about adding files that are random named to the fix so it will remove them and I would like you to read all instructions and then upload that file so it can be added first since the fix did not remove it. Then give the instructions a try. If the Vundofix locates and deletes the file, great, if not give Atribune some time to add it and try the fix again. As soon as the fix removes it, post the results of the fix so we can clean up anything left.

Please understand these hackers can call there junk anything they wish. Vundofix may not know the files at first, but it will learn. You want to run the fix until you see all Vundo files say: "Has been deleted"

Please download VundoFix.exe (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4) to your desktop
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThislogin a reply to this thread.Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

thank you PS Kelly. The issues have been resolved. I downloaded Vundofix again and ran it many times but it found nothing. I tried removing the cscbxw.dll with Hijackthis but was unsuccessful so I downloaded unlocker and was able to remove it with this program, this did the trick, no more pop ups. Scanned one more time with AVG, adware, spybot.kapersky and removed what was left. I also turned off and turned back on the restore point. Finally I added spyware blaster. PC has been running for over 24 hours now with no more pop ups and no annoying browser redirection. Seems my last problem was the cscbxw.dll Here is my hijacthis file. Thanks for the feedback, the battle goes on, seems about 50% or more of the infections coming in are Vundo. The hackers keep changing the junk to keep folks from being able to remove it, seems it is never the same for long.
