I would like to ask is it possible and ok not to have the TeaTimer running? in other words can it be deactivated, and by doing so by running a scan manually will that then capture the same spyware/adware like if the TeaTimer had been running.

Am I correct in thinking that when the TeaTimer is activated it runs in real time in the background?

I ask because I like to have as much resource available and not to have too many applications running at once.

An answer for both programs if possible please and thank you.

Yes you can deactivate it.

To Deactivate TeaTimer and SDHelper.
Launch Spybot search and destroy.
If your not in advanced mode already...
Click Mode>Advanced.
Click Tools
Click Resident
Uncheck the ones you don't want running.

If you wasn't already in advanced mode,
then you were also missing out on other usefull tools as well.
Like.. pc startup configuration... secure shreader... etc...

Newbie Warning: Turning off teatimer and sdhelper will turn off your
realtime spyware blocking ability and what-not and what have ya.
This is probably Not recommended for any PC Newbies.

As I myself have both set to off.. but I also run AdPurger with IE which disables scripts, activex, java ,
exept on sites that I choose to have them enabled. Like this site.. I have javascript allowed.
You could also use firefox with some noscript plugins as well.

Yes,Spybot will still scan and find the infected files if you have those set to off.
TeaTimer and SDhelper keeps you from getting infected in the first place.
