Ok. I have done an online scan with eTrust Antivirus Web Scanner, then Spybot Search and Destory (in safe mode) about 7 times, then HJT and then I removed older versions of java and after that I ran vundofix.

As a note, Smitfraud was still showing up on SB S&D each time. In addition, immediately after restarting the computer from vundofix, McAfee found and removed (supposedly) 3 more trojans: "Generic Spy.b", "Downloader-EV" and "Vundo.dll" again. Also Vundofix says I am using java 1.5.09 however I just deleted all older versions of java, including this one, and installed the newest 1.6.01

At this point I figured it was better to just post all the required logs instead of running them all again without getting help.

Online Virus Scan Log followed by HJT Log followed by Vundofix log**

Scan Results: 228998 files scanned. 11 viruses were detected.

hi fwump38,

boot computer into safe mode, you reach safe mode by tapping the f8 key during a computer restart. chose the first option form the list: safe mode.

i would copy/paste this into notepad so you can save and read it in safe mode:
------------------------------------------
scan with HJT, put a checkmark beside the items below, close all windows and click fix checked.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [runner1] C:\WINDOWS\retadpu1000272.exe 61A847B5BBF72813329B385475FB01F0B3E35B6638993F4661AA4EBD86D67C56389B284534F310

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SManager] smanager.7.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WindowsService] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\jckjeboy.dll",realset

see if you can find and delete these files:

jckjeboy.dll located here>>C:\WINDOWS\system32

smanager.7.exe probably same as above

retadpu1000272.exe located here>C:\WINDOWS

still in safe mode do this:
Empty your Temp folders. Go to Start > Run and type:cleanmgr. Windows will scan. When done check these 3 and press *ok* to remove:

Temporary Files
Temporary Internet Files
Recycle Bin

run spybot in safe mode.
-------------------------------------
reboot normally and rename the hjt .exe (icon) to scan.exe
run vundoFix

last:
rescan with the renamed scan.exe and post a new hjt log please.

I did everything as you said. I ran spybot twice in safe mode. The first run found 26 things including smitfraudc.toolbar888. The second time it just found the smitfraudc.toolbar888.

While running vundo fix, mcafee found vundo.dll as a PUP and not as a trojan.

Process: vundofix.exe
process name: vundofix.exe
filepath: c:\\WINDOWS\system32\wvurspq.dll

Vundo fix did not find this. ^^

After running hjt, mcafee found another PUP and 2 trojans.

The PUP was adware-virtumundo and the trojans were genericspy.b and fakedownloader.

(I have the vundofix log too if needed)

Here is the HJT log:

Alright. I did everything you said. I have noticed the biggest problems (popups, trojans and redirecting websites) have slowed.

vundofix didn't find anything
As for the HJT items you said to remove there was only one:
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {549B5CA7-4A86-11D7-A4DF-000874180BB3} - (no file)

and as you will see, the:
O20 - Winlogon Notify: winmbj32 - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winmbj32.dll

was still there for the final HJT scan I did.

I removed viewpoint manager and couldn't find partypoker on the list. I did see outerinfo on the list and i remember it being found by spybot s&d destroy so I removed it.

However upon removing it McAfee found 2 PUPs but removed them as well.

Here is the vundofix log followed by the newest HJT log:

hi fwump38,

good. thanks for the info. that last log looks ok. hows it looking on that end now?

scan with HJT, put a checkmark beside the items below, close all windows and click fix checked.

O9 - Extra button: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\Program Files\PartyPoker\PartyPoker.exe (file missing)

O20 - Winlogon Notify: winmbj32 - winmbj32.dll (file missing)

you can post those other logs to (vundo, AVG) also, just to look. the last hjt log looks ok.

Ok. The computer seems to be fine now. I scanned with HJT and removed those items. The only thing I had a question about was an item still there that I thought you previously had me remove:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SManager] smanager.7.exe

Thanks again for all of your help. Hopefully its all gone now (except for possibly the smanager.7 thing)

So here is the latest HJT log followed by the last vundofix log and last AVG SW scan:

hi fwump38,

good. yes i missed that 04 (O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SManager] smanager.7.exe)P
you can have hjt "fix it"

one last check. since vundo and smitfraud are being packaged together, download and run smitfraudFix also. it also checks for the presence of a popular rootkit.
-------------------------------
download smitfraudFix to your desktop:

http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip

Extract all the files to your Destop. A folder named SmitfraudFix will be created on your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter

it will scan your computer, looking for certain files.
after it scans you can name and save the text file it creates.
please post that saved text file in next reply.
other than that all looks good.

Alright. I scanned with HJT and removed that one item. I did everything for smitfraudfix and saved the log. I didn't scan with HJT after smitfraudfix as you didn't say whether you needed it, however since it only takes a couple of seconds, I can post it if needed.

Heres the smitfraudfix log:

SmitFraudFix v2.181

hi fwump38,

good. thanks for the info. looks good. one last thing to do is make a new restore point. sometimes stuff can get archived in them. easy to do:

1. Turn off System Restore. (deletes old possibly infected restore point)
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.( forces new restore point on a clean system)
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK, then reboot

I did everything you said. Everything on the computer seems to be perfectly fine now. However I ran spy bot and it found smitfraud still and once it had found it mcafee asked if i wanted to remove vundo.dll as a PUP, not as a trojan. the process was spy s&d and the location was in windows\system32\mllmn.dll and again in the same spot under vtstr.dll

I read the article as well.
Hopefully the computer is clean now. If you need to see another vundofix, smitfraudfix, HJT, or AVG SW log, no problem.

If not, I would like to thank you for all of your help.

hi fwump38,

ok just one more download to get: combofix. lets see if it can dig anything up.

Download this file - combofix.exe

http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe

2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Ok. ran combofix. No more PUPs detected by McAfee or any other noticable problems.

I'll post the log but if the computer is finally clean, my only question is which of these recently downloaded programs I should keep using. As in, I will probably keep and run AVG SW occasionally and I have since enabled Spybot SD Teatimer, but will I need vundofix, smitfraudfix, or combofix once it is clean?

Thanks again

Here's the log:

hi fwump38,

No more PUPs detected by McAfee or any other noticable problems.

ok good.

vundofix, smitfraudfix, or combofix once it is clean
no you wont need them. they are for specific malware. they are also updated with new versions, to keep up with the new malware. keep spybot and avg updated. and of course your antivirus.
if you learn how malware gets on your computer in the first place, you can prevent it. its by things people do or dont do that they can get malware.

if all is good, happy safe surfing and i leave you with this:
