Just ran the update (not sure what version I had prior). During the update an installation program started, but crashed. Currently, ver 1.3 is installed and seems to work fine. There was a new file left on my desktop -- spybotsd14.exe . I assume this is the update for version 1.4. If I try to run it I get error messages -- first, "this program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down", then "this operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator."
I think what all this means is that the update tried to install ver 1.4, but failed and left this file behind.
I'm running Win98 (original version), and also have Norton antivirus installed. Is any of this not compatible with 1.4?
Anyone know if I should try to install ver 1.4 from scratch, ignore the problem and delete the file, or something else? Again, the program seems to run fine, and when I ran the update again, it didn't find any updates.
Thanks for any help,
Skydawg
