Blinking question mark

have got a blue/white blinking question mark/ pink or red circle with line through it...every one in a while gives me a system alert saying spwares are active and could be hampering my computer..when i clicked on questionmark it takes me to an advertisement for spyblocked . i happened to download that program but didn't seem to do anything. Any ways I was wondering if someone could help me get rid of this blinking question mark....thanks
