I tried useing adaware , spybot, spysweeper (ignores some spyware) quaranteined some programes after scans and deleted them, but they still keep showing up everytime I scan. I turned off my system restore and did ran a scan, I turned off many programs and even my msn browser and it still slows down no matter what. I'm out of ideas, I'm at the end of my rope and I hope someone on this forum with some expertise can help me with this problem.

Here are my results from hijackthis after scanning in normal mode(I don't know if scanning hijackthis in safe mode makes a difference):

Welcome to Safer Networking, if you still need help and are not receiving it elsewhere, it appears you have missed some important instructions our administrator has posted at the top of the forum, especially this: "BEFORE you POST" Mandatory Steps Before Requesting Assistance http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please read and follow all instructions and post all required logs or reports, anything less will slow your process.
Use "Post Reply" to post the information in the instructions and stay in the same topic.

Post your HJT log in normal mode unless your helper requests otherwise. Please make sure you read and followed the above instructions and you may hold the required antivirus scan unless I ask for it.

Let's start with this one:
C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Common\ViewpointService.exe
C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe
For your information, Viewpoint is installed by aol probably without your knowledge. I suggest you uninstall this resource waster in Add Remove programs.
http://www.greatis.com/appdata/u/v/viewmgr.exe.htm
http://www.spywareinfo.com/newsletter/archives/2005/nov4.php#viewpoint
http://www.clickz.com/news/article.php/3561546

The malware:
C:\Program Files\Vqqjqv\Wqca.exe
some kind of trojan, it does not identify

C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\mmuw\mmuwm.exe
This looks like adware >>> http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=mmuwm.exe&btnG=Search
If you wish to scan either before removing them, here are free scanners:
http://virusscan.jotti.org/
http://www.kaspersky.com/scanforvirus
http://www.virustotal.com/flash/index_en.html

1) Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.

2) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

3) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

4) AVG Anti-Spyware: Deactivate the Resident Shield
- Before proceeding, deactivate the "Resident Shield" as this may prevent changes to the registry.
- To do this, click "Change State" to the right of the Resident Shield option in the main window.
- You will clearly see the status change to Inactive if you have done this correctly.

5) We need to disable your Windows Defender Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.
Open Windows Defender, Click on Tools, General Settings.
Scroll down and uncheck Turn on real-time protection (recommended).
After you uncheck this, click on the Save button and close Windows Defender.
After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.

6) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {1CFFA392-0898-4b1c-89D1-6E98F9D8EF78} - (no file)

(next item is not working, if you use it, reinstall it when we are finished)

O16 - DPF: {8EFAEF39-9A49-4615-B54A-597AAEC538E6} - http://download.jetbar.com/JetBar.cab

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

7) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\Program Files\Vqqjqv\ <<< delete that folder

C:\PROGRAM FILES~1\COMMON FILES~1\mmuw\ <<< delete that folder

8) Follow the instructions in this link to run AVG Anti-Spyware, delete or quarantine anything it finds and post the scan report.
http://forums.security-central.us/showthread.php?t=3165

9) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Retart the computer and post that scan report, the uninstall list and a new HJT log.

Thanks

Thanks for returning your information and any feedback, looking at the Uninstall list first. I look for malware and security issues, it's a great chance for you to look at stuff you no longer use.

Viewpoint Toolbar
For your information, Viewpoint is installed by aol probably without your knowledge. I suggest you uninstall this resource waster in Add Remove programs.
http://www.greatis.com/appdata/u/v/viewmgr.exe.htm
http://www.spywareinfo.com/newsletter/archives/2005/nov4.php#viewpoint
http://www.clickz.com/news/article.php/3561546

I don't know all of your installed programs (you should) but that is all I see.

Besides that Viewpoint toolbar, which is an optional removal, all I see in the HJT log is this: O15 - Trusted Zone: http://free.aol.com <<< do you really trust aol that much? I personally would not trust them anywhere on any property I own.

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001111912274039?Open&src=sec_doc_nam

AVG Anti-Spyware is a good program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.

Some good information for you:

Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:

The still slowdown. Particularly during startup, scans, and when using the MSN browser. System Restore was turned off over a week ago. The spyware scan have done nothing and they're all updaed. I have the files quarantined and then deleted. Am I doing anything wrong?

Should I close the IE window or an other programs while running HJT? The slowdown is so bad I can't even finish buring CD's. It's pretty bad. I haven't even been able to sign in and use my MSN browser or use media players wthout slowdown. Hell, I can't even ue the recycling bin without slowdown. The has to be some way to remove this malware. Do I need a new modem?

I am really not sure this is malware, AVG Anti-Spyware is showing nothing as is HJT. You may have other problems that I can not help with. I will pursue this a bit further:

1) Review this information, make sure you have run all maintenance programs:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/IE/community/columns/IEtopten.mspx
http://vlaurie.com/computers2/Articles/runbetter.htm
http://www.linkgrinder.com/tutorials/10_Easy_Steps_to_Speed_Up_Your_Comp_24946_Computers_article.html
http://www.techbuilder.org/recipes/59201471

2) Go here and get a free diagnostic scan:
http://www.pcpitstop.com/
Help with results: http://pcpitstop.invisionzone.com/index.php?showforum=6
Tutorial
http://www.pcpitstop.com/techexpress/howto1.asp
Post a link to the test results in this topic.

3) Right click on MyComputer and then click on Properties. When the System Properties window opens, look inb the lower right corner and post how much RAM is installed on your computer.

4) Please download F-Secure BlackLight Beta:
https://europe.f-secure.com/exclude/blacklight/index.shtml

Save it to its own folder in the Desktop
Double-click blbeta.exe to run the program
Click : Scan
A list of all items found is created

The list is in the BlackLight folder on the Desktop, and named fsbl.xxxxxxx.log (xxxxxxx are numbers).

Please provide the log created by BlackLight in your next reply.

(do not try to fix anything, most if not all files will be valid)

Post the link to the diagnostic, the RAM count and the log from the Blacklight scan, also post a new HJT log.

Thanks

Thanks for returning your information and the diagnostic results. The Blacklight scan is clean.

BTW I did a spyware scan on PCPitstop and found a bunch of spyware, a dialer, and a few trojans but couldn't remove or print the data without buying the program. Just wanted you to know.
What program was that which reported these issues? Don't you find it unusual that it finds stuff and wants $$ to remove it. Without investigating the program more I really can't comment, but it is a common trick to find stuff to sell a product. I personally, and most of the malware removal world use only freeware or programs that offer at least a trial. Here is out list:
http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm

Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 9:36:07 PM, on 5/19/2007

Do you know both of these proxies? They look valid, asking to be 100% sure.

You are running Sustem Configuration Utility in Select Startup mode. I have no idea if you have malware turned off that I can not see?
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MSConfig] C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\MSConfig.exe /auto

You have Housecall on board, what do the scan results show?

you also have CA

This HJT log looks clean of malware, excuse me if I have given this instruction before:

I am no expert at these reports, but it is obvious there are problems. If you need expert advice, register free and post here:

You have a major System issue and I will assume you have read the information, looks to indicate an issues with your Processor.

http://www.pcpitstop.com/pcpitstop/DskAdd.asp
Drive C:\ has only 7 percent of its space available.
Of the total 38.15 GB of disk space available on this system, just 4.45 GB (12%) is still available. The rest is being used by existing program and data files.

I would take the time to read the complete diagnostic report if I were you.

You can check this yourself by clicking on MyComputer, right click Local Disk C and make sure you are looking at the General Tab.

I would say you either need a bigger hard drive or you need to clean our something? I would suggest you ask a hardware expert. Here is one suggestion from Microsoft if it helps:

Tried Housecall. Too much slowdown. Tried CA. Found a bunch of tracking cokies and at least 4 trojans. How do I post the results here?

I really believe I have shown you what your problem is and I do not think it is malware. Did you bother to read the information I posted for you?

If you have found four items and can't figure out how to post the report, type them, make sure it is the complete name and locattion (pathway)

Most of that junk is cookies, you do know how to clean your cookies don't you? C:\Documents and Settings\Rubens Papillon\Cookies\
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=how+to+clean+cookies+in+IE&btnG=Google+Search

Looks like leftovers in the registry, might take a registry cleaning to get the junk? I can post a link to a freeware registry cleaner if you wish but you are so limited in the space on your drive I don't know how the program will install and run?

If you want to try another scan to see what it will remove, try this one:
Download Dr.Web CureIt to the desktop:
ftp://ftp.drweb.com/pub/drweb/cureit/drweb-cureit.exe
Doubleclick the drweb-cureit.exe file and Allow to run the express scan
This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan.
Once the short scan has finished, mark the drives that you want to scan.
Select all drives. A red dot shows which drives have been chosen.
Click the green arrow at the right, and the scan will start.
Click 'Yes to all' if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.
When the scan has finished, look if you can click next icon next to the files found: http://users.telenet.be/bluepatchy/miekiemoes/images/check.gif
If so, click it and then click the next icon right below and select Move incurable as you'll see in next image:
http://users.telenet.be/bluepatchy/miekiemoes/images/move.gif
This will move it to the %userprofile%\DoctorWeb\quarantaine-folder if it can't be cured. (this in case if we need samples)
After selecting, in the Dr.Web CureIt menu on top, click file and choose save report list
Save the report to your desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv
Close Dr.Web Cureit.
Reboot your computer!! Because it could be possible that files in use will be moved/deleted during reboot.
After reboot, post the contents of the log from Dr.Web you saved previously in your next reply.

You are chasing your tail, the sooner you come to grips with the major issue you have which is lack of adequate drive space, the better off you are going to me. Until that point, we are both wasting our time and mine is valuable, I don't know how you feel about yours.

Thanks you
