Hello.

For the past few weeks some web pages have been getting redirected to strange google searches.
I have tried my best to follow the instructions in the "Before You Post" message.
I installed and ran Spybot- Search and Destroy
Ran a web scan,
Rebooted into safe mode and ran Spybot- Search and Destroy twice (until it said i was clean).
Ran HiJack this.

Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you saw this information: "BEFORE you POST" Mandatory Steps Before Requesting Assistance

All advice given is taken at your own risk.

Follow the directions carefully please, you have a bit of a mess here:

1) Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.

2) http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php <<< download Smitfraudfix from here and follow ONLY these directions.

Search:
Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 1 and hit Enter to create a report of the infected files. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Note: process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool". It is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

3) Turn off Ad-Watch, it may block the changes we must make: Right click on the Ad-Watch icon in the system tray.
At the bottom of the screen there will be two checkable items called "Active" and "Automatic".
Active: This will turn Ad-Watch On\Off without closing it
Automatic: Suspicious activity will be blocked automatically
Uncheck both of those boxes.

4) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

5) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune

Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

6) Thanks to LonnyBJones and anyone else who helped with this fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so.
Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.
Once the desktop loads post the text that will open (report.txt) and a new Hijackthis log in the forum please.

7) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

8) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\Program Files\SpywareQuake.com\ <<< delete that folder

9) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer and post the uninstall list, the C:\report.txt from Smitfraudfix, the report.txt from Fixwareout and a new HJT log.

I then turned off Ad Watch and adjusted the Folder Options in My Computer to make hidden files visible, and unchecked:

Hide file extensions for known file types
Hide protected Operating System Files

I downloaded ATF and saved it to my desktop.

I downloaded FixWareout, installed it and ran it.
I rebooted and the text file that opened when the computer restarted is:

By the way in your instructions, you said to "check" some items from the HJT System Scan list. None of the items starting with "O17" were in the list. I was ablet he see the line in the list for Spyware Quake (and checked it & fixed it) but when I searched my Program Files for it, I couldn't find it.

The 017 items may have been removed by Fixwareout, that is what there were, see this:

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
