What ever else this did it meessed with Spybot S&D those boxes that alert to a change of registry allowed only the close X to work, so have removed the pro gramme for now...

It looks like you saw the messge from Vundo and posted information in RED, but I still see this:
C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_10\ in the HJT log and it is an old version. Make sure you have the newest version and then uninstall all old versions in Add Remove programs.
Restart the computer and do this:
1) Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.
2) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.
3) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune

Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.
4) AVG Anti-Spyware: Deactivate the Resident Shield
- Before proceeding, deactivate the "Resident Shield" as this may prevent changes to the registry.
- To do this, click "Change State" to the right of the Resident Shield option in the main window.
- You will clearly see the status change to Inactive if you have done this correctly.
5) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"
6) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\docoynbp.dll <<< delete that file
(if you have any problem with that file, then use this tool)

7) Use the instructions in this link to run AVG Anti-Spyware, delete or quarantine anything it finds and post the scan report.

8) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
Restart the computer and post the uninstall list, the scan report and a new HJT log. Tell me how the computer is running now.

This file did not exist, but on re-boot Spybot S&D requested permission to allow reg edit for docoynbp.dll
which I disallowed then on next re-boot:
Error Loading C:\WINDOWS\system32\docoynbp.dll
This module could not be found.
Runs OK but browser still slow to open.

Thanks for returning your information and the feedback. First I need to tell you to look in HJT in the 04 items for this:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [setup] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\docoynbp.dll",realset
That file is there and your computer will be infected until you remove it. If you did not follow the directions in #2 How to make files and folders visible:
You can not see that file. Here are the instructions again, when you are done, restart the computer and look in the HJT log to make sure the line is gone.
1) Turn off TeaTimer > http://russelltexas.com/malware/teatimer.htm
2) AVG Anti-Spyware: Deactivate the Resident Shield
3) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\docoynbp.dll <<< delete that file
(if you have any problems with that file, then use this tool)
How to use the Delete on Reboot tool
Start Hijackthis
Click on the Config button
Click on the Misc Tools button
Click on the button labeled Delete a file on reboot...
A new window will open asking you to select the file that you would like to delete on reboot. Navigate to the file: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\docoynbp.dll and click on it once, and then click on the Open button.
You will now be asked if you would like to reboot your computer to delete the file. Click on the Yes button if you would like to reboot now.
Restart the computer and make sure the item is gone. Then post a new HJT log for me to check.

AVG Anti-Spyware was all cookies, you know you can use the cookie manager in Firefox to control those?

Hence the loading error

This module could not be found.

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:

AVG Anti-Spyware is a good program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.

I think all is sorted and have spent much of today reading the links you provided.
Guess I'm quite lucky, this is the first virus/trojan in 5 years which is not bad considering some of the sites I regularly have to visit as a Dmoz editor covering large Adult categories covering some 4,000 site listings.
Again I thank you for your help, and will continue to monitor things to ensure no return of this little pest from some sneaky hiding place LOL.
