Yeah, apparently I got a "smitfraud" thingy on my spybot... my symantec shows a trojan.vundo which I'm thinking might be the same thing from the looks of the whole thing... I don't have the hijackthis thingy and i read to not run it unless requested to do so by someone anyway... symantec also shows a trojan.nebuler, which I could possibly remove using the removal instructions on the symantec website, but I'm figuring as long as I'm trying to fix my messed up computer, I could try to just do it all at once. Please help anyones? Thanks,

I'm Blade and I am going to try to help you with your problem. Please take a note of five things.
I will start working on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine
The process is not instant. Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine is clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
If you don't know, stop and ask! Don't keep going on.

Click here (http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/HJTsetup.exe) to download HJTsetup.exe
Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on
Edit > Select All
then click on
Edit > Copy
to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

I noticed from other forums to change the "hijackthis.exe" to something else... and I noticed that in this one thre is no "020"s... soooo I'm going to change the exe name run it again and post again.

I know from enough reading of other people's stuff that the awvvs.dll and the winluj32.dll files are both bad. however I'd still need help removing them, and that's about as far as my research on it goes. Thanks for your help.

Please download VundoFix.exe (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4) to your desktop.
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

so, i noticed the "awvvs.dll" in this is replaced with geebx.dll........ in O20, however in O2, both... (and another file removed by vundofix in an earlier attempt) is still mentioned... the 'vundofix" thing I don't think is working a of yet... considering each time i run it, the file it removes is just replaced by a new one...

okay, so I think I did most of that stuff, but when I tried logging into safe mode and deleting hgggedc.dll, it wouldn't let me... and when I take it off the hjt by checking on it, it just comes back again... I've even gone to regedit and deleted it from there and it just comes back... I'm thinking it's the source of the problem, since with it still there, new .dlls show up in hjt, and fixvundo finds something new most of the times too... at this point, I've run the programs enough times, and tried enough things that we're probably not at the same place anymore, but if you have any other ideas for removing the hgggedc other than starting in recovery console (I'm in the process of moving, so my windows XP cd is in one house and my computer is in another), it would be greatly appreciated... I'll post a new hjt log... the fix vundo logs continually say files are deleted but at this point i've tried so many times that the most recent log is probably not even the files you pointed out to me anymore, so I won't post it, but I will post a new hjt log for you.

Yay. Got rid of the hgggedc file... replaced it with the awtsp file... *sigh* norton keeps giving me a popup for some sort of "infostealer" with random file names that are very similar... running vundofix again to see if it can get rid of the awtsp.dll file... I'll do something to get rid of it and post back here with a new hjt in case there is something i'm still missing.

Downloading needed applications

Please download AVG Anti-Spyware to your Desktop or to your usual Download Folder.

Install AVG Anti-Spyware by double clicking the installer.
Follow the prompts. Make sure that Launch AVG Anti-Spyware is checked.
On the main screen under Your Computer's security.
Click on Change state next to Resident shield. It should now change to inactive.
Click on Change state next to Automatic updates. It should now change to inactive.
Next to Last Update, click on Update now. (You will need an active internet connection to perform this)
Wait until you see the Update succesfull message.
Right-click the AVG Anti-Spyware Tray Icon and uncheck Start with Windows.
Right-click the AVG Anti-Spyware Tray Icon and select Exit. Confirm by clicking Yes.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.

Download the Full database to your Desktop or to your usual Download Folder and install it by double clicking the file. Make sure that AVG Anti-Spyware is closed before installing the update. Don't run AVG yet. Will do it a bit later.

Make sure that Set all elements to: shows Quarantine (1), if not click on the link and choose Quarantine from the popup menu. (2)
At the bottom of the window click on the Apply all Actions button. (3)

When done, click the Save Scan Report button. (4)
Click the Save Report as button.
Save the report to your Desktop.
Right-click the AVG Anti-Spyware Tray Icon and select Exit. Confirm by clicking Yes.
Reboot in Normal Mode.
Post AVG Anti-Spyware log & a fresh HJT log.
