View Full Version : Smitfraud and Vundo and others, oh my!

I actually took matters into my own hands last night when my computer suddenly started exploding with popups from IE (is there a way to disable it, btw? I use Firefox regularly, but for some reason other programs routinely revert back to using IE, such as when I check my e-mail with MSN).
Six hours of sleep lost later, I cleaned as much of my system as possible, figuring out that I had Smitfraud, Vundo, and a few other minor bugs.
Now I *think* I cleaned it all, or at least most of it out and I used Spybot, Hijack This!, McAfee, Windows Defender, AVG, Killbox, Kaspersky, Smitfraudfix, Vundofix, Adaware (though strangely, I suddenly can't click on certain things in AAW...), Combofix, and a plethora of other programs recommended by various forums and sites. I've hand-combed the registry and my Windows, System, and System32 folders, as well as run in and out of Safe Mode and disconnected from the internet.
I will post my current logs in the next message.

Oh yes, and I also nabbed the ClickSpring.PurityScan virus.
Hello.
Looks like this sticky was missed: "BEFORE you POST" Steps to take Before Requesting Assistance (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288)
As you posted four times to your own topic, helpers may have thought you were already being assisted.
For people waiting who have not resolved their problem, we have another sticky topic:
If you have waited FOUR days for advice post here. (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?p=4836#post4836)
However if members waiting for assistance do not post there, their topic is archived after a period of time has passed.
If you need the thread re-opened, please send me a private message (pm) and provide a link.
Applies only to the original poster, anyone else with similar problems please start your own topic.
