Hi and welcome to the Board

I'm Blade and I am going to try to help you with your problem. Please take a note of five things.

I will start working on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine
The process is not instant. Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine is clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
If you don't know, stop and ask! Don't keep going on.
Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.

One or more of the identified infections is a backdoor trojan.

This allows hackers to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and Download and Execute files

I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.

Though the Trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of Trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS. Please read these for more information:

How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud and CC Fraud? (http://www.dslreports.com/faq/10451)
When Should I Format, How Should I Reinstall (http://www.dslreports.com/faq/10063)

However, if you do not have the resources to reinstall your computer and would like me to attempt to clean it, I will be happy to do so.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Please let us know what you have decided to do in your next post.

VirusTotal is a free service offered by Hispasec Sistemas. There are no guarantees about the availability and continuity of this service. Although the detection rate afforded by the use of multiple antivirus engines is far superior to that offered by just one product, these results DO NOT guarantee the harmlessness of a file. Currently, there is not any solution that offers a 100% effectiveness rate for detecting viruses and malware.

You'll need a computer with internet connection to download Lspfix (http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.zip). Save the file to diskette or memory stick and copy it then to infected computer. Extract(unzip) file to its own folder. Disconnect from the internet, and close all browser windows. Run LSPFix. Click the "I know what I'm doing" button. In the left hand pane, hilite all instances of iuqcqwosrvc.dll (and nothing else), move them to the "Remove" pane and by clicking the >> button. Click Finish. Reboot to complete the process.

After that we can start cleaning process.

1. Download - rustbfix.exe (http://www.uploads.ejvindh.net/rustbfix.exe) ...and save it to your desktop.
2. Double click on rustbfix.exe to run the tool.
1. If a Rustock.b-infection is found, you will shortly hereafter be asked to reboot the computer. The reboot will probably take quite a while, and perhaps 2 reboots will be needed. But this will happen automatically.
2. After the reboot 2 logfiles will open (%root%\avenger.txt & %root%\rustbfix\pelog.txt). If needed (still infected), post the content of these logfiles along with a new HijackThis log.

Okay, let's continue cleaning. I recommend printing/saving following instructions 'cos these are quite long.

Scan following file at Virustotal (http://www.virustotal.com) and post the results:
C:\WINDOWS\in32.exe

Disable Windows Defender's realtime protection.

Open Windows Defender
Click on
Tools

Click on
General Settings

Scroll down to
Real-time protection options

Uncheck
Turn on Real-time protection (recommended)

Click
Save

Exit the program.

Start hjt, click do a system scan only, check:
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)

Close browsers and other windows. Click fix checked.

Download ERUNT (http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Registry-Tweak/Erunt-g.shtml)
Save it to your desktop. Run and install this program.

In the box that opens ONLY choose
System registry.

Then click OK.

Click save and then go to File > Exit.
This is so the registry can be restored to this point if we need it. It may take a minute. Just let it go until it's done.

Save text below as fix.reg on Notepad (save it as all files (*.*)) on the Desktop.

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ShellExecuteHooks]
"{C7F76815-E647-4BCE-B21A-600CE626E5D8}"=-

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\winlogon\notify\appmgr]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\winlogon\notify\atmmgr]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\winlogon\notify\clicsaml]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\winlogon\notify\sfcfdmsc]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\winlogon\notify\wmadmsst]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\windows]
"appinit_dlls"=-

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\shared tools\msconfig\startupreg\appdiag]

It should look like this -> http://users.telenet.be/bluepatchy/miekiemoes/images/reg.gif

Doubleclick fix.reg, press Yes and ok.

(In case you are unsure how to create a reg file, take a look here (http://www.nellie2.co.uk/file.htm#How_to_Make_a_.Reg_File_) with screenshots.)

Please download the Killbox (http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip) © Option^Explicit.
Unzip it to the desktop but do NOT run it yet.

Copy the text to a Notepad file and save it to your desktop! We will need the file later.

Run LSPFix (download it here (http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.zip) again if needed). Click the "I know what I'm doing" button. In the left hand pane, hilite all instances of iuqcqwosrvc.dll (and nothing else), move them to the "Remove" pane and by clicking the >> button. Click Finish.

Then please reboot into Safe Mode by restarting your computer and pressing F8 as your computer is booting up. Then select the Safe Mode option.

Once in Safe Mode, please run Killbox.

Select "Delete on Reboot".

Open the text file with these instructions in it, and copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\confnss.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\nssprf32.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\nssperf.exe
C:\WINDOWS\cdi1okj.dll
C:\WINDOWS\tcsrahrk2.reg
C:\WINDOWS\x0h7bh.reg
C:\WINDOWS\system32\3T387.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\IoCNAW2v.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\i2VKVg.dll
C:\WINDOWS\r81j7l4g.pif
C:\WINDOWS\9ergx.dat
C:\WINDOWS\odfvf.dat
C:\WINDOWS\sqhos32.dat
C:\WINDOWS\adc.dat
C:\WINDOWS\system32\sfcfdmsc.dat
c:\windows\system32\jbiqcwkxunjhb.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\e1.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\appmgr32.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\atmmgr32.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\clicsaml.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\sfcfdmsc.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wmadmsst.dll

Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click here (http://www.eudaemonia.me.uk/downloads/Files/missingfilesetup.exe) to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again..

Run combofix again and post its log. Post also a fresh hjt log and results from Virustotal concerning C:\WINDOWS\in32.exe file

I got problem where i cannot surf the internet after running killbox...do help?

Hi

Did you run LSPFix before Killbox as instructed? Killbox removes this file c:\windows\system32\jbiqcwkxunjhb.dll and if lspfix hasn't been run before it then loss of internet connection may be followed. So, if you lose internet connection after killbox then you need to run LSPFix (download it here (http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.zip) if needed). Click the "I know what I'm doing" button. In the left hand pane, hilite all instances of iuqcqwosrvc.dll (and nothing else), move them to the "Remove" pane and by clicking the >> button. Click Finish.

1. Killbox: Do i "Delete File" on a Single File or All File?
Choose all files.

2. ComboFix: Again my internet icon lost after running it.
If you lose Internet connection run LSPFix. Then Click the "I know what I'm doing" button. In the left hand pane, hilite all instances of iuqcqwosrvc.dll look-alikes and nothing else (it isn't necessarily exactly same name but is almost same length and is randomly named.), move them to the "Remove" pane and by clicking the >> button. Click Finish.

PS. You don't need to do that upload to Virustotal anymore since you've already done it. :)

Hi

Are you using more than one antivirus program? It's recommended to have only one antivirus (and software firewall) product active in same system.

Well congrats, it appears your system is all clean Are you still noticing any problems? If not, it's time to secure your system to prevent against further intrusions.

THESE STEPS ARE VERY IMPORTANT

Let's reset system restore
Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected. Please note you need Administrator Access to do clean the restore points.

1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
NOTE: only do this ONCE,NOT on a regular basis

We need to re hide system files. To do so, please follow the steps below:
Double-click My Computer. Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options. Click the View tab.
Put a check by
Hide file extensions for known file types.
Under the
Hidden files
folder, select
Show hidden files and folders.
Check
Hide protected operating system files.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update to the latest version...

Updating Java:

Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u1 (http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp).
Scroll down to where it says
The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications.

Click the
Download
button to the right.
Check the box that says:
Accept License Agreement.

The page will refresh.
Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u1-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.

UPDATING WINDOWS AND INTERNET EXPLORER

IMPORTANT: You Need to Update Windows and Internet Explorer to protect your computer from the malware that is around on the Internet. Please go to the windows update site (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/) to get the critical updates.

If you are running Microsoft Office, or any portion thereof, go to the Microsoft's Office Update site and make sure you have at least all the critical updates installed (Free) Microsoft Office Update.

Make your Internet Explorer more secure

This can be done by following these simple instructions:
From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
Click once on the Security tab
Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
Click once on the Custom Level button.
Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
Change the allow paste operations via script to Disable
When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.

The following are recommended third party programs that are designed to keep your computer clean. A link as well as a brief description is included with each item.

Download Adaware
Adaware is a free program. It scans for known spyware on your computer. These scans should be run at least once every two weeks. For more information, see this tutorial (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/index.php?showtutorial=48)
The program is available for download here (http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10319876.html?tag=lst-0-1)
Download Spybot
Spybot is a scanner like adaware. It scans for spyware and other malicious programs. It is important to have both Adaware and Spybot on your computer because each program provides unique detection and pretection measures. Spybot has preventitive tools that stop programs from even installing on your computer.
To see how to set this up as well as more spybot features, see here (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/index.php?showtutorial=43)
Spybot can be downloaded at this location (http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022-10122137.html?part=dl-spybot&subj=dl&tag=but)
Download SpywareBlaster
Spyware blaster is a program that stops known malicious activex controls from installing on your computer. It works by changing settings in your registry. It makes
kill bits
in the registry, so that certain activex controls can't install.
If you don't know what activex controls are, see here (http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/A/ActiveX_control.html)
You can download SpywareBlaster here here (http://majorgeeks.com/downloadget.php?id=2859&file=11&evp=61b0e8ad41924a03c37615f4682b4cef)
SpywareBlaster tutorial (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial49.html)

Download iespyad
It puts many bad webpages on your restricted zones list. This means that you can still view the
bad
webpages, but the webpages cannot do certain things (such as use javascripts and cookies).
If you need help understanding how it works, there is a tutorial here (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial53.html)
Download it here (http://www.spywarewarrior.com/uiuc/res/ie-spyad.exe)

hosts file:
Every version of windows has a hosts file as part of them. In a very basic sense, they are used to locate webpages. We can customize a hosts file so that it blocks certain webpages. However, it can slow down certain computers. This is why using a hosts file is optional!!
Download it here (http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm). Make sure you read the instructions on how to install the hosts file. There is a good tutorial here (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial51.html)
If you decide to download the hosts file, the slowdown problems can usually be avoided by following these steps:
Click the start button (at the lower left hand corner of your screen) Click run In the dialog box, type services.msc hit enter, then locate dns client Highlight it, then double-click it. On the dropdown box, change the setting from automatic to manual. Click ok

Just a final reminder for you. I am trying to stress these two points.
UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE!!! Make sure you do this about every 1-2 weeks.
Make sure all of your security programs are up to date.
Run the spybot and adaware regularly. (Once or twice a week minimum.)
Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly. This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer. If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates.

Once again, please post and tell me how things are going with your system... problems etc.

Have a great day,
Blade :)

I only got 1 antivirus software which is Ad Aware...
Have you previously had Norton and PCTools Antivirus? There seems to be some entries in the log and that's why I'm asking.

Ad Aware isn't actually antivirus program. You can choose proper antivirus program here (http://www.freebyte.com/antivirus/#scanners) . Then you need also firewall. I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer. Without a firewall your computer is susceptible to being hacked and taken over. Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly. For more info, check this (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial60.html) webpage out. See here (http://www.freebyte.com/antivirus/#firewalls) to choose one

Hi Blade,

1. Need help to remove those 2 Norton & PC TOOLs (izzit at the Add n' Remove)..do recommend mi a good antivirus software.

2. As well recommendation for which firewall to use.

;)

Blade81
2007-05-30, 19:01
For antivirus protection I'd recommend either Avast! (http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html) or Antivir (http://www.free-av.com/).
For firewall Zonealarm (http://www.zonealarm.com/store/content/catalog/products/sku_list_za.jsp) is good choice. ZA is easy (maybe the easiest) firewall learn to use.

Other alternatives can be found behind the links I posted in my previous post.

I recommend having one antivirus program and one software firewall downloaded before starting removing process of Norton and PC Tools Antivirus and then turn Windows own firewall on through Security Center (can be found in control panel).

Double-click Killbox.exe to run it.

Select "Delete on Reboot".
Place the following line (complete path) in bold in the "Full Path of File to Delete" box in Killbox:
c:\windows\system32\kacup.dll
Put a mark next to "Delete on Reboot"
Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.
If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

(In case if connection is lost run lspfix and remove all instances of kacup.dll and reboot.)

I see you've installed Avast. Good. How about firewall?

Hi Blade,

1. I'll send the HJT tomolo.

2. May I know why my LAN internet connection kept restarting by itself?

Thanks.

hI Blade,

Everything seems to be running fine now :bigthumb:. My internet connection is fine as well after restoring and running Ispfix (removing kacup.dll) and installing Avira Antivirus instead of Avast! :bigthumb:.

Here's my Latest HJT :present:
