this is not my machine, it is a friends.

i am logged on as an administrator and have saved hijack this in the c drive but it continually shows the 'temp file' error and shows the hijack this location as a temp file in the log.

Here is where you have saved it:
C:\Documents and Settings\StreetScence\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\Q74XQ70B\hijackthis[1]\HijackThis.exe
This is dangerous as we will have no backups for safety if we need them.

I can tell you this, you are infected I just don't know two things.
1) How infected
2) If you have resolved the issue

If you have not resolved this issues then do this.

C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_03\ <<< that Java version is very outdated, and may be the reason the computer is infected. Dowload the newest version and Uninstall all old versions in Add Remove Programs.

Delete that version of HJT completely from the computer, once it is gone, then do this:

Download Trend Micro Hijack This™
http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/threat_analytics/hijackthis.php?page=download
Download it to your Program Files folder.
Doubleclick the HijackThis_V2.exe to start it.
Click "Do a System Scan and save a logfile"
This will create a HijackThislog.
Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply


Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.


Post that uninstall list and a HJT log and tell me about any symptoms and any error messages being received "word for word"
