View Full Version : Hundreds of .wbk files reported

I have been helping a friend clean up her PC. She has an eMachine running XP Home.

When we run SpyBot S&D it finds hundreds of .wbk files over and over even after having them fixed. The path for these files is:

C:/Documents and Settings/users name/local settings/temporary internet files/content.IE5 (or IE6)/wbkxxxxxxxxxxx (various and random letters and number)

However there is nothing in the content.IE6 folder. The folder has three or four subfolders and they are all empty.

Some of those files reported by SpyBot S&D are old, early 2004. My friend has IE6 installed. I think the files are in a log or back up folder somewhere on the HDD. How do I find and delete them?

Thank you for any help

:o

rb2d2:

FYI

Internet Explorer 6 uses folders named:
Content.IE5
History.IE5
The folder levels "History.IE5" and "Content.IE5" were introduced with IE5 and continue to be used by IE6.

I'm sorry guys, this is rather embarrassing, I just talked to the friend with the problem and it turns out I was thinking of the wrong program. It was NOT SpyBot S&D that gave us those results.:o

Thank you for your quick replies. :)
