Hi I hope someone can help me. Someone in my family downloaded some malware and a couple of trojans yesterday. I manged to get rid of the Trojans today as they were resident in temp files by using Spybot and Trend PC-Cillian. I now have a problem that I keep getting pop up windows and a lot of pages on the internet say that I'm not connected and that I should try again. Hope this makes sense. I followed the instructions from the the thread "before you post" ( I think it was by Tash). I couldnt get either of the online virus checkers to work. I ran spybot in safe mode and it showed 6 problems which it fixed I then ran it again and they didnt show. I will put my HJT log in my next post Thank for any help as I havent got a clue as to what I have to do next

G'Day and welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information.
"BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.

If you still need help, make sure you have read and understand the instructions I posted. You have some really nasty adware, so do not expect easy, please do this:

C:\Program Files\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe <<< rename HJT.exe, call it librent.exe or whatever you wish, restart the computer and post a new HJT log.

Cheers

Thank you for replying to my thread pskelley. I have wiped and formated my harddrive as my puter was becoming too unstable to use. I have instigated some of the programs that were suggested in the sticky thread by Tony Klein "So how did I get infected in the first place?", and so far no problems. Thank you again for your time in reading and replying I am very appreciative of your assistance:bigthumb::present:

Thanks for responding and letting me know. Formatting is not always a bad thing and in this case with the malware you had, it would have been a real battle to clean it. Here is some information to help your computer run better and safer.
