View Full Version : Smitfraud-C.CoreService...Pop ups, active x and WinAntiVirus Problems

I have been having all sorts of problems with my computer the last few days...
1. Smitfraud-C.CoreService cannot be fixed in Spybot. I have restarted my computer and ran it several times and it does not change.
2. Pop up have been going wild. I have never had a problem with them except with the last few days.
3. The main pop ups are for WinAntiVirusPro 2007 and 'This page cannot be displayed'. (It looks like when internet is not working...but mine works)
4. My Active X is messing up as well. Somehow the Macromedia Flash Player is gone and now I cannot get it back because when I try to download and install it, the internet will shut down by itself.

I have Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware SE Personal and also a cleaner named regsrubxpsetup_3.2.exe. I have fixed all problems that they have found...and there have been numerous ones the last few days. No matter how many times I run it each day, there are always problems. I also have Symantic Antivirus but that one does not hardly show any problems like the other ones do.

Thank you!

Here is my HJT log

Hi

One folder still there.

Copy text below to Notepad and save it as delcmd.bat (save it as all files, *.*)

@ECHO OFF
attrib -r -h C:\WINDOWS\S2x1ZXNuZXIgQ29uc3RydWN0\*.*
del /a /f /q C:\WINDOWS\S2x1ZXNuZXIgQ29uc3RydWN0\*.*
RD /s /q "C:\WINDOWS\S2x1ZXNuZXIgQ29uc3RydWN0"

It should look like this -> http://users.telenet.be/bluepatchy/miekiemoes/images/bat.JPG

Doubleclick delcmd.bat; black dos windows will flash, that's normal.

(In case you are unsure how to create a bat file, take a look here (http://www.nellie2.co.uk/file.htm#How_to_Make_a_.Bat_File) with screenshots.)

Re-run combofix

Post:

- combofix log
- a fresh HijackThis log

Not quite sure if I did the bat file correctly...I guess these logs will tell you.

Thank you!

Hi

Yes, you did :)

I see that Viewpoint is installed. Viewpoint, Viewpoint Manager, Viewpoint Media Player are Viewpoint components which are installed as a side effect of installing other software, most notably AOL and AOL Instant Messenger (AIM). Viewpoint Manager is responsible for managing and updating Viewpoint Media Player’s components. You can disable this using the Viewpoint Manager Control Panel found in the Windows Control Panel menu. By selecting Disable auto-updating for the Viewpoint Manager -- the player will no longer attempt to check for updates. Anything that is installed without your consent is suspect. Read what Viewpoint says and make your own decision.

To provide a satisfying consumer experience and to operate effectively, the Viewpoint Media Player periodically sends information to servers at Viewpoint. Each installation of the Viewpoint Media Player is identifiable to Viewpoint via a Customer Unique Identifier (CUID), an alphanumeric identifier embedded in the Viewpoint Media Player. The Viewpoint Media Player randomly generates the CUID during installation and uses it to indicate a unique installation of the product. A CUID is never connected to a user's name, email address, or other personal contact information. CUIDs are used for the sole purpose of filtering redundant information. Each of these information exchanges occurs anonymously.
Viewpoint Manager is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without user's approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad". This may change, read Viewpoint to Plunge Into Adware (http://www.clickz.com/showPage.html?page=3561546).
I recommend that you remove the Viewpoint products; however, decide for yourself. To uninstall the the Viewpoint components (Viewpoint, Viewpoint Manager, Viewpoint Media Player):
Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
In Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove Programs.
In Add or Remove Programs, highlight >>Viewpoint component<< , click Remove.
Do the same for each Viewpoint component.

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner (http://www.kaspersky.com/downloads/kws/kavwebscan.html). You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
The program will launch and then start to download the latest definition files.
Once the scanner is installed and the definitions downloaded, click Next.
Now click on Scan Settings
In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:

o Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:

+ Extended (If available otherwise Standard)

o Scan Options:

+ Scan Archives
+ Scan Mail Bases

Click OK
Now under select a target to scan select My Computer
The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run. Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
Now click on the Save as Text button
Save the file to your desktop.
Copy and paste that information in your next post.

I do not see a Scan Setting button.

I get to a page after clicking "next" that says this:

You can configure the scanning process by pressing Sacn Settings button. ( I don't see a button)

Then it tell me to select one of the following to scan:
Critical Areas
Memory
My Computer
My Email
Folders
A File

I selected My Computer like you said and it automatically quarantined the file(s) that were infected. (Spyware.ISearch was the name of it.)

Yes, I used Microsoft Internet Explorer. I tired to undo the actions but it said I cannot undo it.
