Well I'm currently in limbo, the computer was supposed to go into forced shut down but for some odd reason I'm still able to at least make it here. Can't run much else though. I've managed to catch smitfraud-c. Toolbar888.Which is what, I think, is causing an error in my services.exe or whatever that app is called. Regardless of the name my computer is rather sporadically forced to reboot. I've been having a whale of a time doing anything due to that fact. I might get 90% of the way through a scan I might get 12%. All of the programs I've managed to run completely haven't gotten rid of this so I've come here for help. I think the first issue that needs to be addressed is how can I stop the computer form randomly crashing so that I can actually complete some scans.

sorry for double posting but that obligatory hjt log since I can't seem to find an edit button.

Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information. "BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.

You are badly infected with some really nasty malware. I would say if you want help cleaning this junk, the first order of business is for you to read the instructions I posted above so we are on the same page.

Your malware list:
http://fileinfo.prevx.com/fileinfo.asp?PXC=e1ca93053549
http://research.sunbelt-software.com/threatdisplay.aspx?name=ClickSpring.PuritySCAN&threatid=10115
http://research.sunbelt-software.com/threatdisplay.aspx?name=Virtumonde&threatid=15196
http://www.castlecops.com/lsp-259.html >> http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=abcdefgh.dll&btnG=Google+Search

This will be a challenge to remove and your might want to consider as reformat? http://www.cyberwalker.net/faqs/how-tos/reinstall-faq.html

Please let me know what you decide. If you wish to proceed with the cleanup, please do this for starters:

1) Delete the copy of HJT you have running here:
C:\Documents and Settings\Brad.U-7F36515AAB5C4\Desktop\HiJackThis_v2.exe
and follow these directions:
Download Trend Micro Hijack This™
http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/threat_analytics/hijackthis.php?page=download
Download it to your Program Files folder.
Doubleclick the HijackThis_V2.exe to start it.
Click "Do a System Scan and save a logfile"
This will create a HijackThislog.
Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply

2) Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.

Post that uninstall list and a new HJT log, run it in Normal Mode if possible.

Thanks

Fyadd

It would be possible to try it in normal mode but there's a high probability it'll crash before I get through those,For some reason last time it "crashed" it didn't force the reboot like it claimed it would and I'm still on so, any scans Irun are pretty much guaranteed to finish. Reformating is a last resort.

Thanks for returning that information, of course, since this junk can download more, I suggest you stay offline except when troubleshooting, until we have you clean.

I posted this information in a PM:
I am assuming since you posted that you wish to continue with the cleanup. I am in Clearwater, Fl. EST and just about to set down to my dinner. As soon as I am done, I will start the instructions. While you wait, uninstall this:
Outerinfo
That is PurityScan adware. Here is an uninstaller if it gives you a problem:
UNINSTALLER
http://www.outerinfo.com/OiUninstaller.exe
TUTORIAL
http://www.outerinfo.com/howto.html
I will post this information again in the forum for all it see.
Thanks...Phil

Let's tackle this one next: O10 - Unknown file in Winsock LSP: abcdefgh.dll
It can not be removed with HJT and this is the tool we must use:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial59.html
Read and follow those directions carefully, this is the file you need to remove:
abcdefgh.dll <<< the download and tutorial are at that link. While I expect no problems, this is a tool for emergency use:
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfix.html

Once that junk is gone, post a new HJT log.

Thanks

Fyadd

Some information about the Vundo infection:
Since there is a class action involving this one, you may want to view this information:
http://www.networkworld.com/news/2007/030807-mystery-around-winfixer-slowly-unravels.html
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBUZHiKhsog
http://msmvps.com/blogs/spywaresucks/search.aspx?q=winfixer+msn
http://www.revenews.com/wayneporter/archives/adware-spyware-greynets/getting_the_fix_on_winfixer_aol_network_now/

I will post several instructions and surely do not intend for you to rush, those who are successful read and follow the directions carefully.

1) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

2) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

3) AVG Anti-Spyware: Deactivate the Resident Shield
- Before proceeding, deactivate the "Resident Shield" as this may prevent changes to the registry.
- To do this, click "Change State" to the right of the Resident Shield option in the main window.
- You will clearly see the status change to Inactive if you have done this correctly.

Thanks to Atribune and any others who helped with this fix.

Please understand these hackers can call there junk anything they wish. Vundofix may not know the files at first, but it will learn. You want to run the fix until you see all Vundo files say: "Has been deleted"

4) Please download VundoFix.exe (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4) to your desktop
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThislogin a reply to this thread.Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

If there is a file VundoFix doesn't find we need it submitted. Please submit
the files to upload malware http://www.uploadmalware.com

(hold the Vundofix report and HJT log until you finish)

5) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

(some lines may be gone, removed by Vundofix, do not be concerned)

O20 - Winlogon Notify: winpym32 - winpym32.dll (file missing)

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

6) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\WINDOWS\WNSXS~1\ <<< delete that folder if there

C:\WINDOWS\system32\rcmnulxa.dll <<< delete that file

(if that file gives you any trouble, use this tool)
How to use the Delete on Reboot tool
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial42.html#delreb

7) Please run AVG Anti-Spyware according to the instructions in the following link. Delete or quarantine anything it finds and post the scan report.
http://forums.security-central.us/showthread.php?t=3165

8) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer and post the Vundofix report, the scan results from AVG Anti-Spyware, a new HJT log and any comments you think will help.

Thanks

i couldn't find the folder or the dll you said to manual delete. There was a folder with a similar name but I left that alone.(didn't have the ~1, though I recall during scans prior to this that it did exist at one time and is now gone.)

Thanks for returning your information, as far as I can see all three logs indicate you are clean of malware, how is the computer running?

Couple of things in the HJT log:
1) Are you sure this program is safe?
C:\Program Files\lolifox\lolifox.exe

2) Your call but I have never liked this program:
O2 - BHO: FGCatchUrl - {2F364306-AA45-47B5-9F9D-39A8B94E7EF7} - C:\Program Files\FlashGet\jccatch.dll

http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/grayware/ve_graywareDetails.asp?GNAME=ADW%5FFLASHGET%2EA

3) System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001111912274039?Open&src=sec_doc_nam

AVG Anti-Spyware is a good program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.

Some good information for you:

Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:

Okay, thanks for the help. I'm sure about lolifox, it's just a modded of firefox. ;)

Okay just a random bit here after running a spybot scan. Spybot still claims I'm infected with smitfraud-c. toolbar888

Yet another update. (I'm sorry if there actually is an edit button and I'm just too dumb to find it or something.) But, after that scan I removed the smitfraud and ran a second scan, spybot now says it's gone, so we'll see what happens later this evening and tomorrow.
