• Welcome Guest, to the Spybot Forums! It's 2025, and we just upgraded our forum software.

Today is Safer Internet Day, and with our new forum, you can finally use passkeys to login. That was about time!

Of course, you could ask if a forum is still useful, with so many social media networks out there where you might already have an account, and met a lot of users. You can now use your login from some of those networks to log in here. And by posting here, your question and data is stored on our servers and not automatically shared with a whole social media network.

We'll also start using the forum for small bits of information, announcements and more again.

Pop-ups at start-up

There is a Spybot pop-up that irritates me at startup, and each time I change User (and my wife has six pop-ups!).
It is associated with the Resident log entry which is added each time:-

Allowed value "Zone Labs Client" (new data: "") deleted in System Startup global entry!

Can anyone please tell me how to stop the pop-ups, and perhaps also prevent the log entries?
I think I actually uninstalled and reinstalled Spybot last time Iwas drowned with pop-ups - but surely there is a less drastic cure?

I have Windows XP Home, Spybot S&D 1.4, and Zone Alarm 7.0.337 Free.

P.S. It is a Resident pop-up which starts:- "Resident allowed the change......), not one which asks whether to allow or deny.

Try refreshing TeaTimer's snapshots files.

TeaTimer takes snapshots of Registry entries and compares these with the Registry at startup. Until these snapshots are updated you are likely to get pop-ups (at startup) of changes you made in the past. In other words, TeaTimer attempts to return the Registry to the state it was in when the snapshots were taken. This happens primarily when you reboot the system. To refresh TeaTimer's snapshot files:
  • Right click Spybot's TeaTimer System Tray Icon > click Exit Spybot-S&D Resident.
    • TeaTimer closes.
    • TeaTimer's snapshot files are refreshed at this time.
  • Restart TeaTimer:
    • Using Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy.
    • Double click TeaTimer.exe to start it.

NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL SERVICE !

After your first line, I had to untick "Teatimer active" in Spybot/Tools/Resident (in Admin User mode), to make it work.

Now there are no more pop-ups, and no entries being made in the Resident Log.
      Many thanks:bighug:
