Please help me get rid of the Smitfraud toolbar. It makes nonstop popups, and totally kills off my 6-year old computer. Please reply ASAP!

Hi daRoberto

Please download VundoFix.exe (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4) to your desktop.
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

I followed your instructions exactly. Do I need to do anything else? Also, could you give me some advice on how to avoid getting vundo again?

Hi

Please download the Killbox (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/spyware/KillBox.zip).
Unzip it to the desktop.

Please run Killbox.

Select "Delete on Reboot" and "All files"

Copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntmycftf.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winuuk32.dll

Go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click here (http://www.eudaemonia.me.uk/downloads/Files/missingfilesetup.exe) to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again..

If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

I used Killbox and it worked out well. Also, are there any other methods that don't involve restarting? My computer take about 20 minutes to restart, at best.

Hi

You may try disabling startup programs, that should boost startup.

Vundo seems to be back :(


* Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
* Once the scan is complete, Right Click inside the listbox (white box) and click add more files
* Copy&Paste the 2 entries below into the top 2 boxes

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\jkkifee.dlll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\urqqo.dll

* Click Add Files and Click Close Window
* Click the Remove Vundo button.
* You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
* Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
* When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
* Turn your computer back on.
* Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.
