Thanks for the response. I got rid of the six checked items in Hijackthis. The "paytime.exe" and "secure32.html" file on C: were easy to find and delete, but I never found a "winstall.exe" file to delete. Also, in attempting to use the "Search for files or folders" function my computer would instantly freeze each time I typed the first letter in the search box. The current problems are unfortunately the same as before using the instructions: My computer makes me login with a user name and then logs me off for shut down before I ever get into windows. The only way I can get into Windows to do anything is in the Safe mode. The login problems began last week when I was waiting the 3-4 for days for spyware removal advice. Either the spyware or the rebooting between Safe and normal mode had caused my display settings to change. I reset the setting from normal-96 DPI to Large-120 DPI. After rebooting, the login requirement showed up and I have never been able to turn it off. Here is the most recent Hijackthis log:

Is spycatcher a new program for you ?

Can you set the dpi back to 91 ? if you changed any other video settings put them back to where they were before.

In the windows Control Panel click Display > Desktop > Customize Desktop > Web > Uncheck "Security Info" if present. click the apperence tab under Windows and buttons change it to Windows XP style > click apply and OK.

I got rid of the last paytime.exe with Hijackthis.

Spycatcher was a new program for me (I got the Spy-sheriff hijack on January 1 and downloaded Spycatcher on January 2). Spycatcher has now been uninstalled.

Yes, video was set back to 96 DPI.

I never found any "Security Info" to uncheck.

I did a Spybot scan (clean) and an Adaware scan (2 critical objects removed).

Rebooted and things finally looked good. No login or user name needed. No need to use Safe mode. Homepage stays at what I want it to be and no endless pop-up window about being infected.

Thanks for the help.

I got rid of the last Spycatcher file with Hijackthis.

I Downloaded Blacklight and then a scan seemed to find no problems. Here is the log:

Next:
Purge the old System Restore points
Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
Then Reboot. < Dont skip that step.
Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
