OK, I give! While I have gotten an all clear from eTrust online scan, spybot S&D, and in safemode I don't think I am clear. I downloaded HJT and there are several listings that I KNOW are not cool. And thought I could kinda stumble through it I am too chicken to try it solo.
My suspicions were heightened when I downloaded my iPOD prog. I had denied a bad download from my windows update and I think it slipped in on me then. I got that fabulous dancin' chick only mine had clothes on. When I got rid of some things with help from a friend I lost my games (not a big loss) . My friend suggested spybot and I stumbled on here ran through your before you post stuff and now I am here. Also, I have had some strange desktop changes and am the only PC literate one here.
Any Help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks for your time too.
Am also currently downloading Microsoft Windows Malicious removal tool.

Here is my HJT log...........

Thanks for posting your information. If you would check Notepad, under the Format Tab and make sure "Word Wrap" IS NOT checked.

I see you have a McAfee infection (lol) and a load of NetZero (seems they also dump a lot of junk just for the price?)
I see Juno in the log also: http://whois.domaintools.com/64.136.28.120
But...what I do not see is any "malware"?

What I need you to do is review the instructions:
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288

So we are on the same page and then please describe the issues that make you believe you have malware on your computer.

strange desktop changes <<< helps me little, I get those too.
Remember that HJT can not show everything.
Then before you post, please have a look at this information to see if anything there helps, this may not be malware?

O.K, from the beginning of this whole mess. .................
My first idea I had something working behind the scene without my knowlege is when my windows update downloaded an update that tried to put itself in an unauthorized windows file. I can't remember what the exact wording was but that was my understanding of it. Once I did a system recover with my trusty Gateway guy (trusting my pc to its maker), all was back to normal, but I had to write down the download # and refuse to accept it when I updated in future events. Then, I got my iPod and it was loaded I guess with itunes' prog., because once itunes was operable this dancin' chick was on my toolbar. and dancin I might add as well without clicking on it. And maybe my modem being corrupt?(I couldn't buy anything on itunes and it download right) ANyway I got the song and dance from ipod that it was my isp and my isp said it was my pc. Gateway bailed me out and walked me through shutting off my startup options and there was loads of stuff I didn't recognize. She suggested downloading spybot and that is when I got here.

#1. CA online scan .....
Scan Completed. 47175 files scanned. No viruses found.

File Infection Status Path
- No Infections

#2. Downloaded spybot S&D, ran it, It fixed 4 lines I didn't catch

#3 ran spybot in safemode.... got an all clear

......lost my recycle bin icon that was in my desktop theme
I checked on what was up with that and all my themes were gone.

#4 downloaded hjt 1.99 ... ran it and posted here.

#1a  added in after your last posting .......
Trend Micro housecall 6.5 found all this grayware/spyware and it was deleted. and am still running fine yeah!........
Hazard sign....ADWARE_BHOT_SBSOFT
red shield......ADWARE_Systemsave
Hazard sign... ADWARE_Coupons
red shield...... HTTP COokies(4)
ADJUGGLER
REVSCI
TACODA
ADDYNAMIX

And what I went through for that, young eyes should not have to see. Ha
Anyway... all while trend was scanning, I peeked around and stumbled on some of those sites you put in here for me from other posts and I saw alot of start up lines i am unsure about and some service listings that don't make any sense.

anyway, I dont think I have ever had a juno account on this thing.
I did check my hjt in notepad and I did unselect the word wrap and am still getting those page eater lines so I will hang on to them for now. Unless you see another way I could do it?

where can I check these start up and service lines at?
Oh and THANKS ALOT!!!!!!!!!

THanks!

I'm afraid the information you are giving me is not helping, I am just not understanding what you are saying, the first big paragraph makes little sense to me?

Why is this line set like this? Do you know?
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = 64.136.29.30;64.136.44.66;64.136.29.34;searchap.untd.com;127.0.0.1;localhost;

*.prod.untd.com;*.2mdn.net;cf.netzero.net;qs.netzero.net;*.advertising.com;<local>

Did you have anything to do with setting it like that? What is your StartPage/HomePage? Do you use all of that NetZero Junk?

McAfee: you are paying for it so I guess you are stuck with it?

We have to start somewhere, let do this:

Follow the directions in this link to run AVG Anti-Spyware, make sure you delete or quarantine anything it finds and save the scan report to post.
http://forums.security-central.us/showthread.php?t=3165

Post that scan report and answers to questions above.

Thanks

The first paragraph was explaining why I think there is a malware problem.

This is the one of the MAIN reasons I am here>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>Why is this line set like this? Do you know?

What is your StartPage/HomePage? Sadly, Netzero message center

Do you use all of that NetZero Junk? NO & NO

McAfee: you are paying for it so I guess you are stuck with it? OUCH!

I Will be working on AVG!You know how much fun that will be.
Thanks again for your time,

I should have asked if NetZero was your Internet Service Provider. I will show you how to remove as much trash as possible that may be slowing you and I will leave the NetZero message center as your HomePage. You do know you can set any HomePage you want...correct.
McAfee is something you will have to deal with. If they have your check, you may want to call/email them to complain about all of that junk and how it is slowing your computer. You have to make the decision, but I would consider dumping them at the end of the subscription. There are many anti-virus programs available, both paid for and free that do not load your computer down like that.

AVG Anti-Spyware...Understanding you are on dialup, I chose that program because you could download it instead of trying to run an online scan and then once you had it down, you could run it offline. It is not the very best, but will give you a good idea of anything one the computer that should not be. Continue with the scan UNLESS it will not complete for some reason. Once you have it down, it should run in about one hour.

http://whois.domaintools.com/64.136.28.120 <<< what about this Juno? Do you use them anymore?

Let's clean up some of the junk now, NetZero junk is hard to get rid of and it keeps putting the junk back. We may not be able to get rid of the stuff if they are your ISP but let's see what happens.

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

run cleanmgr

Restart the computer and post a new HJT log along with any information I reqested.

Thanks...Phil

I counted quickly, McAfee is running 15 programs and about the same amount of services.

And I don't think I have ever had a Juno on this PC. I can only handle one bad ISP at a time, ya know.

Thanks AGAIN!:bigthumb:

I understand that:laugh:

the HJT looks clean of malware and AVG cleaned what it found, let's clean the System Restore files now:
System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001111912274039?Open&src=sec_doc_nam

AVG Anti-Spyware is a good program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.

Some good information for you:

Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:
