2. Boot into safemode

3. Run the smitrem tool

4. run ewido (save the log)

5. run hijackthis, check the items below and click "fix checked"

Run Ewido one last time and post the log if it finds anything...

Then...

Now that your computer is clean it's a good idea to purge your system restore (going back to a saved restore point could put all the infections you had back)

This will clear all your infected restore points...

Turn off (Disable) System Restore in XP :-

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
Restart your computer.

Then...

Turn on (enable) System Restore :-

Follow the same proceedure, but this time uncheck Turn off System Restore

if you have any problem with this... here's a link to instructions :-

3. IE/Spyad: https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/resource.htm
4. http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

#3 IE/Spyad will place over 5,000 known bad sites in your "restricted sites" list

#4 the hosts file, will similarly block known bad sites from loading on to your computer by using the hosts file.

Along with an anti-virus program (AVG is free) and a firewall (Zonealarm is good and free)

These will go a long way toward helping to keep your computer clean and safe.
