Hi There,

I have been reading some of these posts and got some really helpful info on how to get rid of Vundo. I downloaded Vundoexe and it looks like I was able to get rid of that virus ( I think?) I ran a virus scan after Vundofix was complete and the virus was still there but Mcafee deleted it. I ran my Spybot Search & Destroy and it got rid of quite a few things also. However, it will not get rid of the Smitfraud Trojan. I am not quite sure what to do at this point. I ran a hijackthis log and will post it. Thanks in advance for your help! I dont know what I would do otherwise! :present:

Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

You still have some problems, not related to Smitfraud. I suggest you make sure your version of Spybot is totally up to date and fully immunized. Then if you have issues you can't remove, post those in the Spybot forum for those experts.

Download the newest version and uninstall all old versions in Add Remove programs. You may wish to save resources and turn off the scheduler, you can see it is not working. I update manually myself.

C:\HijackThis.exe <<< return here and create a new folder called HJT. Move the HJT.exe and the log that is there into that folder. Backups for safety will also store there. It will look like this:
C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe.


How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\Program Files\SpywareBot\ <<< delete that folder

Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer and post a new HJT log and let me know how the computer is running.
