Hello,
A couple of days ago I suddenly started getting several warnings from the start tray (bottom right-hand corner of the screen)
Internet attack attempt detected...
Your security and Privacy are at risk...
Each pop-up ends in "click here for more information". I haven't clicked, not sure what will happen!

My browser has not been hijacked.

Windows Security Warning says that Win32.Trojan.RX spyware has been detected on my computer. Although I can't run my Norton Anti Virus.

My computer is extremely sluggish

I ran Ad-Aware, quarantined, and deleted files that were harmful. After I ran Spybot, the task manager was disabled and the red desktop background appeared.

3 DOS-like screens pop up that have sysrlb32.exe in the header. They disappear after which another box appears with the following message:
LoadLibrary Manager has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Task Manager does not work.
Error message: "Task Manager has been disabled by the administrator."

My desktop background is red, despite the fact that I've changed it a couple of times, it always goes back to red!

I don't have the AVG log because of the reason below:

I've installed the AVG software in regular mode, rebooted into Safe Mode, and have been unable to run AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5. I get this error message: "Connection to service failed. Please reinstall AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5."

So, I uninstalled, rebooted in regular mode, re-installed AVG, rebooted in safe mode and got the same error message.

Questions:
Should I install and run the program in Safe Mode?
Should I install and run the program in Regular Mode?
Any advise as to how to run this program?

Any help will be realy appreciated. Thank you!

Please take the time to read that information so you know how dangerous this trojan is.

C:\WINDOWS\System32\srwxj.dll <<< I can't even identify this one.

A Backdoor is a software program that gives an attacker unauthorized access to a machine and the means for remotely controlling the machine without the user's knowledge. A Backdoor compromises system integrity by making changes to the system that allow it to by used by the attacker for malicious purposes unknown to the user.

One or more of the identified infections is a backdoor trojan.
This allows hackers to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and Download and Execute files
I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.
Though the Trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of Trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS. Thank you for your response in an ominous sort of way.
I have disconnected the laptop from the internet and changed important passwords from another computer. Had some questions:

1. I was reading in one of the malware descriptions that you had sent links to that if one is behind a router NAT (I have a D-link router for internet sharing) that the security breach may not be as severe. Is this true?

2. I know this is not the ideal thing, but I wanted to backup my file data onto an external hard drive. e.g. the files in "My Documents" folder. How dangerous is that if I want to access the data later?

3. I wanted to take a backup of my Outlook pst file for recovery later. How dangerous is that if I recover the outlook file into the newly installed computer?

4. Is it possible at all to kill some of these trojans using the conventional methods that I have been reading you guys normally follow? Could we try and do that or is the risk too great?

Thanks for returning your questions, I will say first that I remove malware and I some knowledge in this area, but I am not an expert. I will do my best to answer your questions.

1) I can not say from personal experience. I can say the folks who supplied that information are professionals. At BroadBand Reports.com you can post here: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/security to ask your questions and I would also say you should be able to get information here: http://support.dlink.com/chooseCountry.asp

2) Symantec should have the ability to scan those files to assure you they are safe. Right clicking a file will give you "scan" as an option, or you may be able to scan a specific are (McAfee does) like MyDocuments prior to backing them up. While I have reformatting, I have not had to do so because of malware.

3) Some as above, scan the files to be sure it has not been infected prior to backing it up.

4) We can clean the computer, but as the above information makes clear, because of the way these trojans infect and hide their junk, there is no way I know of to be assured the computer is safe.
