Lots of problems with Spyaxe

Okay. First of all, I have been trying to follow the instructions to remove it, but I keep running into a problem when I try to use runthis.bat. When I try to open it, a window opens and asks what program do I want to open it with. I am a real newbie and have no idea what to use. Also I want to say that since this whole thing began, a little popup has been flashing on my taskbar saying that i am infected with a virus. I have heard that this is something that Spyaxe does to try and trick people into buying it. Is this true or am I really in trouble?
 
Ok. now for some reason it just went away and it has stayed gone. even the little popup is gone. should i still run through the whole list of running runthis.bat, full scan with spybot, etc..?
