Yet Another Smitfraud-C.toolbar888 Problem

Hi i seem to have the same problem as many others, an attack of the smitfraud toolbar malware.
I obtained it through clicking a link that a friends (trusted) msn account automatically sent when her computer became infected. Mine then did the same and sent the link to all other contacts that i had online.
I have run Spybot- Search and Destroy (in safe mode), AVG antivirus and Ad-Aware SE, along with the Vundofix program that was suggested.
However the program is still on my laptop after repeated runs of all scanners.

I can not comment on what you did remove without seeing the Vundofix report, but you have not removed all of the infections, please follow these instructions.

1) You are running two antivirus programs at the same time and this is not a good thing. They conflict with each other and you will be less safe than if you ran one good program and maintained it properly.

Uninstall one of those.

2) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

4) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

5) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\xmgbqkxw.dll <<< delete that file

6) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

7) Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.

Restart the computer and post the uninstall lig and a new HJT log. Let me know how the computer is running now.

As far as i can see i have no more problems with smitfraud toolbar anymore, i removed some bits earlier today before i ran all the tests and deleted all the java and the O2O file.

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
