Recurring Trojans

Hi there. I've been reading a lot of the threads here and trying a lot of the strategies recommended to others, but not deleting any HJT entries. I still don't have my computer completely clean though, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask for some help.

I too picked up smitfraud-c.toolbar888. I'll scan and remove it with Spybot S&D, but it just comes back, even when I do another scan immediately after the the first one.

What happens is this: I'll get my computer relatively clean, except for the one smitfraud entry in Spybot. Then I'll start using my computer and McAfee will start popping up a number of messages saying it has detected so-and-so trojan, including Vundo, Generic Downloader, Generic Adclicker, etc. I've used the McAfee scan, Spybot, AVG, VundoFix, SmitfraudFix, and BFU but it keeps happening. It seems like I've gotten the most apparent issues out of the way, but I'd still like to totally clean this up.

While I'm at it, Could anyone recommend me a permanent (and preferably free) alternative (or alternatives) to McAfee Security Center? It seems to work well enough, but it's such a hog.

Let's deal with malware first...

* Download Combofix (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) to your desktop.
Doubleclick combofix.exe
Follow the prompts.
Don't click on the window while the fix is running, because that will cause your system to hang.

When finished and after reboot (in case it asks to reboot), it should open a log, combofix.txt.
Post this log in your next reply together with a new hijackthislog.
Do NOT post the ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt - unless I ask you to.

Delete next folder: C:\Qoobox

Then, go to start > run and copy and paste next command in the field:

sc delete MsaSvc

Hit enter.

Now that that's out of the way, any suggestions on less-system-hogging replacements for McAfee Security Center?Yes, there are some free Antivirus and Firewalls as well which are great and don't use that much resources as McAfee does... because McAfee is really bloated imho.
