Tried to read previous forums on this topic but most answers stated that the cure was for that problem on that particular computer
Have following on laptop.
Performed spybot , Live Onecare, Smitfraud fix. Tried to do ad-aware but crashed during scan. Went to ad-aware and tried to install 2007 ad-aware an error occurred. Tried to uninstall ad-aware se from add/remove but it could not find install program to finish uninstall. I deleted it from C\program files manually. Tried again to download 2007 again and although it installed on my laptop it still has an error. I did not do hijack as I’m not really sure how to do it and if is necc.

Hi Dee, when it is time to download the HJT log, please use this version and instructions:
Download Trend Micro Hijack This™

Download it to your Program Files folder.
Doubleclick the HijackThis_V2.exe to start it.
Click "Do a System Scan and save a logfile"
This will create a HijackThislog.
Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply

You Did not follow the directions I posted, and placed HJT in a temporary folder where HJT can not safely store backups we may need in an emergency. Please delete that version and download it again and follow the directions. Please do not proceed until this is done.

It is very important that you read and follow the directions, those that do have few problems removing this junk.
Thanks to Atribune and any others who helped with this fix.
Please understand these hackers can call there junk anything they wish. Vundofix may not know the files at first, but it will learn. You want to run the fix until you see all Vundo files say: "Has been deleted"
Please download VundoFix.exe (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4) to your desktop
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThislogin a reply to this thread.Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

when I download it originally it went to notepad and a copy in my progam files. Samething this time. Hopefully it is right. I did not see anything in a temp file. I have done nothing at this point, just downloaded hijak agian.

Your HJT log is showing up to date Java, the Vundofix is telling you about an out of date version. Uninstall all old versions of Java, they will get you infected.
Since I see Viewpoint I will say again, unless you use it, at the very least it uses your resources, at the worse you should have read about.

1) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"
4) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

I believe since this a nasty infection, we should run another scan to make sure nothing is hiding.
5) Follow the directions in this link to run AVG Anti-Spyware, make sure you delete or quarantine anything it finds and save the scan report to post.

6) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
Post the AVG Anti-Spyware scan results and a new HJT log.

Did a AVG scan and a report was not generated even though I checked the box to create a report with each scan. I did another scan thinking something went wrong during scan that did not create a report. First report showed quite a few items (deleted) and the second scan only showed two. Second scan resulted in no report also. Don't know why/what happened.

Thanks for the feedback, the HJT log looks clean of malware. That AVG issue appears to be a glitch in the newest release, you can read about it here:

It would be great to have seen that scan, what the items were. Cookies? System Restore files? If you feel the need for additional scans I can provide good ones, if you believe your computer is back to normal, I will suggest you do this:
System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:

AVG Anti-Spyware is a good program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.

Right now the system seems to be running fine. The items that turned up in the scan were mostly cookies, but there was 2 trojans. When I clicked on them they seemed to be located in restore files. I will do clean as you suggested. If anything comes up during the next couple days, I will repost. Thank you SOOOOO for all your help in cleaning up my system. I will read all the information you suggested.

Just for grins I ran Spybot scan and it came up with only one item. smitfraud toolbar 888. location hkey_uses\s-1-5-22-2484558178-2145139204-100s\software\micro\aldd. Should I be conerneed? How do I get rid of it?

Understand that if Spybot S&D (a great tool I have used for years) finds the item to be bad, and your version of Spybot is totally updated and immunized, this would be a question for the experts at this forum:
