I downloaded a keygen for a game and when i opened the rar file, my norton antivirus detected a Trojan called Downloader and was unable to delete it. Hence i scanned my computer with Spybot and problems appeared were Astakiller, Win32.agent.qt, torpig, virtumonde, Smitfraud-c and Smitfraud-c toolbar888. I fixed the problems except for the torpig with Spybot which it prompted that some can only be removed after a reboot. However, after rebooting and another scan, the problems surfaced again.

So i went to some forums and found out about SUPERAntiSpyware and also the vundofix to remove virtumonde. SuperAntiSpyware detected trojan.downloader and other threats. I then scanned again with spybot but it still have the Smitfraud-c and smitfraud-c toolbar88 problems.

Another thing, during my scanning with spybot, i kept having warning with an error with my include files c:\program files\spybot-search-destroy\includes\trojansc.bi

here is my HijackThis log.

I forgot to add that i have also scanned online using trend micro online scanner. After the first post above, i have been scanning using the SuperAntiSpyware and Spybot, fixing the problems and rebooting. However, Spybot has been showing the Smitfraud-c problem after rebooting and also the trojan.downloader from SuperAntiSpyware.

This is my hjt log after the second round of scans.

hi flamingrecca,

if you still need help. download and run these two;

download and run vundofix.exe:

http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4

* Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
* Click the Scan for Vundo button.
* Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
* You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
* Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
* When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
* Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.
------------------------------------
Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop:

http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip

Extract all the files to your Destop. A folder named SmitfraudFix will be created on your Desktop.
Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter

This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. It will create a file named: c:\rapport.txt

stop at this point and post a HijackThis log along with the contents of the c:\rapport.txt.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
------------------------------
post the vundo log and the smitfraud log and a new hjt log please.

hi flamingrecca,

those logs look ok. maybe between ruuning vundofix, spybot and super antispyware you took care of the problem.

vundo/smitfraud are very popular right now as keygen payloads.

i wouldnt keep bittorrent running all the time. i have some file sharing tips here:

http://security-central.us/SafeHex/file_sharing.htm

Hmmm.. I think its because of the Kaspersky antivirus trial that i downloaded that did the job (and the others that you mentioned of course). It detected and deleted 42 trojans because it cant disinfect them. I suspect that it deleted some important files as I noticed the hjt log says that some files are missing. I will also take note about my bittorrent too.

So does it mean now that my computer is clean from malware now?

hi flamingrecca,

the hjt log looks good. but a hjt log dosnt show all malware. i would say between all the scanners you used that you are good to go.
read my prevention tips below.
using keygens from p2p or websites will undoubtedly get you malware sooner or later.

hi flamingrecca,

do you know how i can fix the error about my spybot include files error

not sure what you mean. spybot finds file errors? this is reported in the result window after a scan?
if so right click in the window after the scan is done and select "copy results to clipboard"
start notepad and paste the results in, name it somehting and save it. then post that .txt in your reply.

Im not sure if others have experienced this before. But when my Spybot is scanning, up to a certain point Spybot will have a prompt saying something like this " Includes file error. Can't find include file in C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Includes\Trojansc.sbi

Quite puzzling to me.
