I keep getting a pop-up icon in my taskbar saying "Integrity Threats Detected!" I took a look at it and I noticed the Ultimate Fixer, Ultimate Defender, Ultimate Cleaner, and Security Monitor. From the looks of it, it seemed like my Windows Security Center, and yet it wasn't. I decided to use HiJackThis and here's my log:

Ad-Aware and Spybot doesn't seem to pick up the problem. I've tried the Rogue Remover as well with no success. Please help!

hi twistoffate17,

we can try this: first we will get smitfraudfix then boot into safe mode to run everything.

link to smitfraud:

Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop:

http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip

Extract all the files to your Destop. A folder named SmitfraudFix will be created on your Desktop. we will use it in safe mode at the last step.

-----------------------------------
i would copy/paste the rest of this into notepad and save it somewhere like your desktop so you can find and read it while in safe mode.

to reach safe mode you would tap the f8 key during a computer reboot. chose the first option: safe mode.
----------------------------------
ok once in safe mode do this:

scan with HJT, put a checkmark beside the items below, close all windows and click fix checked.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [pmnevwnm.exe] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\pmnevwnm.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SC2] C:\WINDOWS\system32\scchk32.exe
----------------------------
next:
look in the system32 dir and delete the .exe>>scchk32.exe

look in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data
and delete the .exe>>pmnevwnm.exe

if you dont see application data being listed do this to show all folders:

with windows explorer still open, at the top go to tools>folder options>view tab>
Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.
--------------------------
next:
(you can use Edit>select all File>delete)

using explorer(right click on start>explore) drill down to these >you want to delete whats >inside< the folder, not the folder itself

C:\Windows\Temp\

C:\Documents and Settings\-Your Profile-\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\ (will dump all your cached internet content including cookies)

C:\Documents and Settings\-Your Profile-\Local Settings\Temp\

C:\Documents and Settings\-Any other users Profile-\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\

C:\Documents and Settings\-Any other users Profile-\Local Settings\Temp\
-------------------------------
next:
run the first option of smitfraud(search):

Open the SmitfraudFix folder on your desktop and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter

This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. It will create a file named: c:\rapport.txt

stop at this point and post a HijackThis log along with the contents of the c:\rapport.txt.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

last:
run spybot once in safe mode
------------------------
reboot normally, rescan and post a new hjt log and the saved report form the smitfraudFix.
