I know I have Infostealer left and another one that begins with "W"

I am at the end of my tether, I have spent about 10 hours trying to sort this out and can now get online at least so please help!!

Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information. "BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

Exactly what have you done? what tools have you used? Is this something you downloaded? >>> C:\WINDOWS\system32\Defrag.exe

I still see Vundo infection and also PurityScan adware, let's start like this:

1) Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.

2) Thanks to sUBs and anyone else who helped with this fix.

Download ComboFix from Here (http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) or Here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) to your Desktop.

Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Post any information I requested, the uninstall list and combofix report.

Thanks

Sorry I took so long to reply I have had houseguests for a few days!!

OK...so....I don't think I downloaded the Windows de-fragg thing unless it is part of the Windows Live OneCare software I was advised to download. I used SmitfraudFix.exe I was pointed towards and likewise did a search and found a Vundo fix online which turned out to be something called ATF-Cleaner.exe, as the notifications were no longer popping up I thought that had worked!

I have no idea how these things got on my laptop, as I say I was away when it all appeared. My housemate used it while I was gone and has told me he tried to find a cheat hack for the bigfish game Escape to Paradise, which I have since bought anyway! He downloaded porn and various Poker games.

Oh I did read your disclaimers too so no worries ;) Thank you for your help with this. xxx

Hi again!

Thank you for your swift response, I have managed to do all the above apart from locate the following in the Hijack This list to check it and remove it:

O23 - Service: DomainService - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\hnsefisd.exe (file missing)

I just could not see it there!

also when using the explore method via the start menu I could not locate the two files you suggested:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\irkzazsv.exe <<< delete that file

C:\WINDOWS\system32\hnsefisd.exe <<< delete that file

All the rest seemed to go like clockwork and I shall just reboot and post up the new log.

Thank you!

Thanks for the information and your feedback. Sometimes items have been removed by tools we run and just need to be removed from the HJT log and sometimes I ask for them to be checked twice just to be sure.

You know what this is: O23 - Service: IFA_Moore Service - Unknown owner -C:\Program Files\Common Files\Primal Pictures Shared\Service\IFA_Moore Service File.exe

I need to show you this information:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/docid/2000031316555206
"Microsoft recommends that you have only one anti-virus program installed on your computer."
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/12/03/AR2005120300087.html
http://www.smartcomputing.com/editorial/article.asp?article=articles/2003/s1407/38s07/38s07.asp

Because you are showing Symantec and Microsoft Windows OneCare Live\Antivirus. If they conflict and both Microsoft and Symatec say them will, this is something you need to address.

I will also say you have programs running, showing in your uninstall list that I would not run on a computer I own. I can not point at them and say "malware" but I can suggest you look to see what may be running that you do not know or do not use.
Besides that, your HJT log looks clean and I suggest you do this now:
System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001111912274039?Open&src=sec_doc_nam

If you want to run a good free trial to check for hidden junk, use this one with these instruction, delete or quarantine anything it finds and post the scan results if you have questions.
http://forums.security-central.us/showthread.php?t=3165
Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.

Thank you so much for your help!

The windows onecare is a temporary thing which I downloaded as a trial which I don't plan on keeping so if it does conflict with Symantec that should cure it.

I shall have a good read of all the info you have posted for me as I really want to get as clued up as possible when it comes to all this!

I think I might know which programmes you are referring to as the ones you would not allow on a computer you use and have been planning on having a clean-up in that regard for some time so I shall do that tomorrow when I have more time.

I shall clean the System Restore Files before bed tonight following your link and have a bash at cleaning out any other hidden rubbish using the other link you have kindly provided.

Many, many thanks for your help on this, you people do wonderful work for some clueless and desperate people! You were also very clear and concise and your instructions were 100% easy to follow, which I know is no mean feat so VERY well done on that score!

Thank you again xxxxxxx
