Is it possible for key loggers or other malware to be programmed to prevent someone from running spybot and other malware-detection & removal programs?

I'm presuming this is true because of the problems a friend of mine experienced when a keylogger was installed by her [probably soon to be ex] husband, but I wanted to verify.

Would Spybot be able to detect the keylogger program if she ran it with the PC booted up in safe mode?

Any other failsafe way to detect and remove keyloggers that don't involve physical harm to the person who keeps putting them there?

Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information. "BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)

All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

I apologize, we are in the business of removing malware and the questions you ask me to speculate on are something I would probably not wish to get involved in.

If you have questions about what Spybot will or will not do, please post that here: http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=4
and they will need more information about this "keylogger program" than you have provided me.

If you want us to look for malware on the computer and advise you, then you will need to follow the directions posted above that are also pinned to the top of this forum.

You may want to Google your questions.

Thanks
