Smitfraud-c.888 Toolbar keeps coming back

[NBA2k]

I've tried so many programs to get rid of this malware. Vundofix, Smitfraudfix, SmitRem, AVG, and many others. I can delete it in safe mode but it keeps coming back when I restart my computer. Here's my hijackthis log. I already changed the programs name to scanner.exe. I would greatly appreciate it if I could get some help.

If you have not resolved these problems, the log I looked at shows you are badly infected. I would keep the computer offline except when you are troubleshooting until you get it cleaned. If you still want help, since it has been several days since you posted, please do this:

1) You are running two antivirus programs at the same time and this is not a good thing. They conflict with each other and you will be less safe than if you ran one good program and maintained it properly.

Please read and follow the directions carefully:

1) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

2) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

3) We need to disable your Windows Defender Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.
Open Windows Defender, Click on Tools, General Settings.
Scroll down and uncheck Turn on real-time protection (recommended).
After you uncheck this, click on the Save button and close Windows Defender.
After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.

4) C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware 2007\aawservice.exe
I am not yet familiar with this new version of Ad-aware, it may also block changes we must make., You may want to turn it off until you are done.

5) Disable the Service
Click Start > Run and type services.msc
Scroll down to rxllxnfadvyihe and right click on it.
Click Properties and under Service Status click Stop, then under Startup Type change it to Disabled.

Do the same thing with this service: wjjeeomqfhpikq

6) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

7) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

mtxpact.exe <<< search for and delete that file (probably in the System32 folder)

C:\WINDOWS\System32\fadvyihe\ <<< delete that folder

C:\WINDOWS\System32\mqfhpikq\ <<< delete that folder

8) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer and post a new HJT log, let me know how the computer is running.

Restart the computer and post a new HJT log, let me know how the computer is running.
Do you know what this is: O16 - DPF: {FCEAE646-DCF9-4D59-B994-6BD30A315139} - http://www.mtv.com/overdrive/bin/setup.exe
If not, use HJT to remove the item. Everything else looks fine in the HJT log. Assuming all is running well, I will leave you with this information:

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:

You may rename HJT if you wish and delete all tools you downloaded for the fix. The exception is ATF-Cleaners, it is a nice small tool and you may keep it and share it with friends if you wish.

If you want to run a good free trial to check for hidden junk, use this one with these instruction, delete or quarantine anything it finds and post the scan results if you have questions.

Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.

Oh I forgot to tell you. My computer is running fine thanks. The one thing is that when I startup I noticed that some program vstmanager.exe (i think thats how it's spelled) gets and error every time. It's the type of windows error where you can send a report or not.

Yeah I know what it is. It's an active x control that I downloaded to watch a video in firefox from mtv.com. It hasn't given me any problems but I can get rid of it if you think it would.

Thanks, good to hear your computer is running better:bigthumb: Look at those links I posted to make it run even better. No reason to remove the DPF, I thought it was good, just wanted to be sure.

This item: vstmanager.exe may not be spelled right: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=vstmanager.exe+&btnG=Search It's rare Google does not return something unless it a randomly named file from a hacker and that would normally not come in a Microsoft error. Do you follow through with the links provided in the messane? They will tell you what is causing the message. Check the spelling and google it again, or post the exact error message and I will see what I can find out, but chances are you are in a better position to follow the links on your end.

If it is being caused by a corrupt or missing windows file, that will usually fix it.

My fault. The error is called vstskmgr.exe. I looked it up and its from mcafee virusscan. I uninstalled the program but it looks like the file was left over. I'm going to try that scanner in the link you provided thanks.

These big virus suites have a history of being hard to completely uninstall. Here is some McAfee information if it helps:
