View Full Version : Smitfraud-C. Toolbar888
With Spybot i saw the Smitfraud-C toolbar88...I have no idea what programs I need to make logs, I have Spybot, Adaware, AVG:Free, Norton Antivirus, StartPage Guard, Spyware Blaster, Spycather, and Script Sentry, all of them are good, at least to an extent, but none of them are stopping the Smitfraud.
Also, is this the thing that was opening up my Internet Explorer to random commercial sites?
And, I am sorry I did not Realize I was on the Read-Only section when i made a reply, If i was flagged or something : )

Smitfraud-C. Toolbar888: http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=8668
That may well be a false positive. I find that updating Spybot S&D and fully immunizing it removes that item in most cases.
Ask your Spybot S&D questions here:
http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=4
We have issues in this log to discuss:
1) You are running two antivirus programs at the same time and this is not a good thing. They conflict with each other and you will be less safe than if you ran one good program and maintained it properly.
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/docid/2000031316555206
"Microsoft recommends that you have only one anti-virus program installed on your computer."

2) See this: http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=12880&postcount=2
C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_10\ <<< out of date, download the newest version and uninstall all old versions in Add Remove program.
3) C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Common\ViewpointService.exe
C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe
For your information, Viewpoint is installed by aol probably without your knowledge. I suggest you uninstall this resource waster in Add Remove programs.

http://www.spywareinfo.com/newsletter/archives/2005/nov4.php#viewpoint
http://www.clickz.com/news/article.php/3561546
4) You have a marker in the log for a Vundo infection: C:\WINDOWS\system32\rmebvueh.dll Because of the way Vundo hides from HJT I have no way of knowing if it is present or not.
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\hijackthis\HijackThis.exe <<< rename HJT.exe, call it anything you wish, restart the computer and post a new HJT log. If present you will see it in 020BHO's and 020 Winlogon.
5) Please do not add anything manually to the HJT log. I have seen tens of thousands of them, if I have a question I will ask you.
6) O20 - AppInit_DLLs: secuload.dll <<< any idea what this if for?
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=secuload.dll&btnG=Google+Search
Complete the above instructions and post a new HJT log.
Thanks
ok i did as you asked, i do not know what that secuload thing is, but it may be a trojan dropper / trojan / adware -what i am having problems with- after i restarted my computer the windows start button, and desktop icons did not show up, i had to open task manager to start mozilla -with no bookmarks- and to open HJT, but in a good light I did as asked, and here is the log (NOTE: I did not edit the last log, i just said what something was on the bottom, since it took me a little bit to realize what it was myself )

Please read and follow these directions carefully, if you should have Vundofix onboard, please delete it and download it again from the link I post.
Thanks to Atribune and any others who helped with this fix.
Please understand these hackers can call there junk anything they wish. Vundofix may not know the files at first, but it will learn. You want to run the fix until you see all Vundo files say: "Has been deleted"
Please download VundoFix.exe (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4) to your desktop
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThislogin a reply to this thread.Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.
If there is a file VundoFix doesn't find we need it submitted. Please submit
the files to upload malware http://www.uploadmalware.com
Thanks
Vundo

Not quite sure what you are talking about with the Service Packs, if you have problems in that area, you can get help here:
http://support.microsoft.com/
The 02 BHO vundo files are not the problem, it's the 020 Winlogon files which are tough to remove because of when they logon during the boot process. Here are the ones you still have not removed:
O20 - Winlogon Notify: mljjihe - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\mljjihe.dll
O20 - Winlogon Notify: vtstr - C:\WINDOWS\system32\vtstr.dll
Run Vundo fix again, sometimes it takes several times to get them all deleted.
If Vundofix can't remove them then follow the instructions to upload them to Atribune as directed. Then do this:
Open Vundofix by Doubleclicking on it, then point your mouse to the white box
above the buttons and right click, then click on Add More Files. When the
next window opens, copy and paste the files into the boxes and click on Add
File(s), then click on Close Window. Then click Remove Vundo.
These are the file:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\mljjihe.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\vtstr.dll
add this one also to see what happens:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rmebvueh.dll
Thanks
the files could not be uploaded, vundo couldnt remve the smitfraud thing, but those files arent showing up, so it could have deleted it, does smitfraud copy to nul?
oh all i was clarifying, was that the log said i had SP2 but i really am using home

Once you have completed those instructions, please post a new HJT log.
If you are saying you removed the service pack after you posted the HJT log, this is still what I am showing:
Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)
MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180)
If you do not have SP2 installed, I strongly suggest you install it as soon as your computer is clean.
Thanks
thank you for helping by the way, if i can volunteer for this, u can notify the right people, i just need a crash course..

If you are asking the locations of schools for free training, let me know. Progess at the schools is according to your abilities.
I still see Viewpoint in this HJT log, you may want to read the information in the links I provided again.
Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = NOT USED (OK)
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = NOT USED (OK)
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = NOT USED (OK)
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = NOT USED (OK)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {457ADC52-523F-4BA0-9ED0-94D607938B0E} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\sstqp.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {A1F527B4-FDC5-4778-9926-9697773A3596} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ssqpq.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {CDB6E726-0F42-42B7-AD73-92C15CF8793F} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\vtstr.dll (file missing)
O20 - AppInit_DLLs: secuload.dll
O20 - Winlogon Notify: ssqpq - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ssqpq.dll (file missing)
Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"
RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:
secuload.dll <<< delete that file
If you have no problems with those instructions, then you can do this:
System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/tips/mcgill1.mspx
If you want to run a good free trial to check for hidden junk, use this one with these instruction, delete or quarantine anything it finds and post the scan results if you have questions.
http://forums.security-central.us/showthread.php?t=3165
Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.

oh, i figured out what SecuLoad was for, it is a part of my anti-virus prgram, trenebril spy catcher, i figured it out when i clicked it and it said "trenibril", should i remove this program? or was it just an unknown file? and I installed the prgram after I was having problems

Thank You very much! so after i complete courses, and such -I am a student ( 15 ) so I am eager to approach computing as my profession, could I volunteer for Spybot? That would be very cool.
oh and I believe my problem is solved, smitfraud did not show up in spybot and nothing is popping up, my computer is running better, thank you
