I've read all of the other smitfraud posts and have a general Idea now on how to fix it myself. The only problem is I cannot access the internet anymore. I downloaded adaware, and ran it. Then I downloaded Spybot, and ran it. Somewhere after that first run of spybot I lost all internet functionality. When I try to connect via wifi or LAN cable all I get is the two computers searching for a connection. It will run for hours to no avail.

The Problems fixed by spybot were many, but as i just reran, I hae Smitfraud-C.Coreservice, Smitfraud-C.Toolbar888, and ZQuest.k8l. I have cleared them all but Smit-Core before, but the others have returned. I cannot download the Vundo program to continue with the cleaning because I can't access the internet. Does this problem Sound fixable from the information given?

Thanks for the attempt :D

i thought I'd add, its not a problem with my server, as i have tried multiple connections. I also tried a system recovery to restore the spys, yet that didn't work either. Is there some sort of block I don't know about that my computer is under so i can't fully access internet?

Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information. "BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)

All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

I am not going to say it it is not malware, but malware does not usually cause the problem. My suggestion is that you contact your Internet Service Provider for help.

Here tools that sometimes restore broken connections:
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfix.html
You can save those on a floppy and bring them to the computer that is not working.

I can do little unless I can see at least a HJT log, but here is a link to where some knowledgeable folks may be able to help:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/forum14.html

I will also mention that you can look in Recovery in Spybot for anything that you think might have been removed in error? Unlikely, but you can restore an item at a time to see what happens.

Check your firewall also to make sure it is not blocking you. Malware might have changed something. You can turn it off long enough to see if you can get access.

Hope this helps

Thanks
